How did you start?

most people were inspired by other youtubers or family and friends to do youtube, others (like me) started it for a hobby because they didnt have anything to do in their spare time.
I started so I could show people my videos without having to send them a huge file every time. When I got our first dog I took lots of videos and pictures and wanted to be able to send them to family and friends quickly. It was after I uploaded my first dog video that I found out you could make money with it. I would probably do the same videos regardless of making money or not. The only thing the money does is makes me actively promote my videos.

All of the above, to some extent. Watching YouTubers made me want to try it, and so I picked it up as a hobby, and my friends and family were supported, and some of my college friends even joined in on the channel. So I guess all of the above, really.

I wanted to start my YouTube channel over 2 years ago and never did. I let family and people close to me bring me down and tell me it was "a stupid idea" or "a waste of time." I got discouraged and have regretted it a lot. I recently told myself I need to do whatever is going to make me happy and so here I am!

I love the joy I get making and editing videos and uploading them to my channel. I honestly haven't been this happy in a while. With all the crap in my life sometimes I feel like I can escape that and do my YouTube stuff! I still receive a lot of criticism and negative comments from family but I don't even care anymore. I love doing what makes me happy!!!

i've always kind of made videos to document the stuff i'm doing, mostly compilations of little clips i take throughout my adventures. i decided i had things to say that could help people and i love making videos anyway, so i started posting. :)

I actually started in 2015 making videos for a school and was paid for it too. A lot!

Some of those videos got rejected so I went on my own

We started this channel because we know we would have listened when we first started YouTube.
At the beginning, creating content can be a lonely world- you havent build your audience yet, and people in the real world have trouble understanding what your hobby is or why it takes so long.
Creators need a place like this forum, where they can talk openly about their hobby and get help from people going through the same things.
That's why we've taken time from our main channels to do a YouTuber podcast.

As for our very early beginnings on YouTube, I think both of us were influenced heavily by other famous educational YouTubers (CGP, VSauce, Alt History Hub, etc)
