I agree with the OP a great deal. I was in college when YT came out and I thought it was great but, for years, I had a lot of self worth issues. Working on vids really helped me build confidence and pride in productivity. I've learned a lot about people in the short 10 months I've been on YT - that haters seem to be rustled up by action...if you do nothing, no one says a thing, but if you produce something then out come the critics.
With each vid I get new ideas for design and production and try to incorporate them into the next. As an artist, I'm satisfied by being able to actualize my ideas into a medium that, when I was a kid, I thought impossible. I still worry that I don't look perfect sometimes, or my sound is all over the place, but the joy I get in uploading something new and having positive feedback from my friends is something worth the time spent editing.
