Remember that your not gonna get a hundred subscribes right out of the gate. You have to make the videos and get them out there. Use your social media and promote what you create. Most of all keep at it. If you make it they will watch it.

Only make stuff you like. For example, I have a world of warcraft gaming channel that gets a metric ton of views but I don't enjoy the game currently. My nature videos are not going to be anywhere near as popular as my gaming stuff but it doesn't matter. No matter what you're into, if you keep at it, allow yourself time to improve at your craft, you will get better. Almost any channel, no matter how popular, you can go back to their earliest videos and see just how far they have come in quality and in perfecting their craft. This goes for anything, not just youtubers.

Try to do something good for the world, have a cause....don't just do it for fame, or you will feel unforfilled.

I'm sure this has been posted many times already, but in addition to using awesome tools like Tubebuddy, start to type the keyword(s) you think identify your video into youtube's search bar and look at the auto-suggestions. This is how before I started my channel I would find unexpected (or more focused) search results related to what I was looking for.

Over time & with consistency, the videos get better. Practice makes perfect. Keep on with creating content on schedule. It will become easier the more you do it. As a result, you will learn more and make changes/improvements. The subscribers appreciate that.

I'm all up for shameless promotion, but there is a time and a place. The youtube comments of a video that doesn't relate to your channel is not the place.

Scratch that, don't say 'check out my channel' on any comments. If your comment is good, people will look at your channel anyway! People are more likely to click on someone who is being genuinely lovely and interested in their content than someone who looks like they watched the first 10 seconds and then spammed the video with their channel link :)

You will doubt yourself, and your abilities. More than once, and at varying severities.
This is a sign that you love what you do, because your mind is taking the time to care about it.
It will get easier, and it's alright to take a day off.

Don't do free sponsorship deals and never do a commission only deal. I thought this was common sense, but apparently it needs to be said.
