Be active. Respond to comments and promote your video on social media. You gotta have a routine and upload at least once a week. Also watch other people's content and comment on their videos.

I keep seeing people say you should promote on social media...I just signed up on Twitter (I'm sort of a post-hipster...I like things after they were cool) and have set it to automaticly tweet when I upload a new video...is that what's meant by "promoto" or is there something else you can do on a site like Twitter?

When editing a lot of videos (because you are scheduling instead of posting as you make them) make sure you finish the edits, I just got really confused because I am finding versions of things I don't quite remember doing that way.

The time you put in is always worth it once you've got an audience.

Even if it takes you 20 entire hours to create your 10 minute video, that's only 120 views it needs to already have created 20 hours of content in total between those people. If 1200 people view it, you've now provided 200 hours of learning/content/entertainment for only 20 hours of your time, and the more views, or the less time it takes you, the better the ratio. Creating content for other people is great value for your time.

On a related note: If you ever need some quick motivation. Take a look at the total watch time on your channel, and ask yourself honestly, how does it compare to the time you spent creating the content? If it's more than what you put in, you've created a net gain for others worth more than the time you put in.
