I also have goals like number of views and subscribers in my mind. But these goals are output measures, which are not 100% in my control. I can influence them via my actions and the content quality, but there are lots of other factors having an impact on this. Therefore, I wouldn't hook myself to these external goals.

The internal goals, which is also called "in-process measures", are the ones where I want to focus on. These are 100% in my control. If I can reach these goals, there is a high probability that I reach my views and subscriber goals as well.

Here they are:
  • # of videos uploaded: at least 30
  • Quality of content: Audience retention at least >40%
  • SEO: At least 20 mins time per video to find right tags
  • Description: At least 200 words description in accordance with tags and title for each video
  • Social Networks: Post videos on Facebook, Twitter and Google+. Post eeach video in at least 20 groups.
  • Reddit: Learn about how reddit works. Try to get at least 10 views per video from Reddit.
  • YTtalk: Active participation. Post on average one message per day.
  • Learning: Listen all the podcasts from TubeTalk and D.I.Y. Video guy. Watch Premiere Pro tutorials on YouTube.
  • Marketing: Talk to all the parents I know and convince them to subscribe to my channel
  • Channel design: Make a trailer, improve logo and banner.

Readjusted mine slightly:

By 31st December 2016:

  • 500 videos on my channel (currently 107, so need an average of of just over 1 per day)
  • 2,500 subscribers (1,400 to go at the time of writing)
  • 250,000 total video views (170,000 to go at the time of writing)
  • MOST IMPORTANTLY: still be creating good content and ENJOYING IT.

my goal for 2016 is to hit 100 subs because when you are starting you tube and havent hit the 1,000 subscriber mark you don't grow as much so you are pretty much getting around a couple of subscribers a month

Let me know your youtube goals for the end of 2016? and maybe i can help a tiny bit

1000 goals is quite a high goal so dont get sad if you dont reach it. but good luck and even if you dont make it by the end of the year theirs always next year :)

So my new goal I set myself for my channel is 1000 subscribers by next year. But I am not looking for random subscribers. I am hoping to gain active subscribers that will watch my videos when they get the chance to show their support. Think I can do it? If so give me some feedback on what I can do to achieve this goal. ;)
