After Movie Maker decided to bomb out on me (I can barely use any of the features), I am looking for a new editor. The only problem is that I'm broke and my parents still manage all of my funds. Does anyone know of a free editor that doesn't have a watermark?
Da Vinci Resolve is as good if not better than premiere pro, and has an excellent free version.
Also heard good things of HitFilm.

I use Filmora! It's very similar to the old movie maker with the overlay feature. It's amazing but a little expensive!

I like it because of its user friendliness. It's very intuitive unlike other softwares.

I use Final Cut Pro X, Photoshop, and Motion 5. I am in love with all of them, and I taught myself how to use them all on lynda.com ... if anyone has particular questions about any of these feel free to let me know.

Adobe Premier Pro as well,
but there is also a free software called Lightworks which is the best free editing software I know of! :)

I used to use cyberlike powerdirector when I was starting off. Honestly, it has a lot of great "pro" features and a simple to follow interface. I then dabbled with Adobe After Effects but wasn't a huge fan of it. I currently use Adobe Premiere Pro and it's amazing if you're willing to climb through the learning curve. Its uses are endless! I also use Adobe Photoshop for thumbnails and other small items I might need to include to videos (Color Keying images, removing backgrounds, and simple cleanups).
