Dont quote me on this, but If you have the full version of FcX than all of that should be a brease. I currently use premiere pro but i know a lot of the same functions are available in FCX as its about a 50/50 split in the film making community between the 2 programs, i would say yes you can have as many text layers as you want, the fonts should run off of your hard drive, so yah, you should get the whole lo that is on your mac. as for duration, i know I have to change that every time in premiere but thats not to hard with a cut and then delete. and for the fade out. you should have a "fade in/out" preset transition already in there that you can just slap on the end.[DOUBLEPOST=1461168537,1461168260][/DOUBLEPOST]I have a few Final Cut Pro questions.
Can you have as many text, image, and video overlays as you want?
If I put text in an overlay, can I use any installed OSX font, or do I just get a small set like in iMovie?
I often put images as overlays in my video, but I have to edit their duration and fade in and fade out every single time. Can I set defaults for that?
Thanks for any help.

Final Cut Pro X & Adobe After Effects - I work as a professional Video editor. In my opinion there are only two softwares that are best for video editing - Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Premiere Pro. AVID is still used as a standard in Hollywood but it's only there because AVID pay a lot of money to keep it there. It feels very outdated and not as intuitive.
Premiere Pro: Is great for Beginners, intermediate & advanced levels - very intuitive. Older versions used the crash a lot! But they've fixed that since (Always turn on autosave)
Final Cut Pro X: It's what i use at work, it's great for organising projects, syncing audio & multicam shoots. There is no save option as it constantly saves every move you make. It's a beast when it comes to big projects. Takes some getting used to.
Adobe After Effects: I use this for motion graphics and small 2d animations - Intermediate learning curve. Very fun when you get the hang of it but it takes a while to learn.
Maya: This is what I use for 3D animating. Very high learning curve. It's for creating 3D models for later compositing into videos or standalone animations.
Some of this stuff is quite advanced but I find it's best to learn industry standards if you want to get serious about video editing.
What do you like better between Premiere and FCX? I have been using the adobe suite forever now and i love it. a little bit buggy sometimes but overall a great bunch of programs for only $50/mo. ps I LOVE your videos, that garlic trick is my FAVORITE!! I always use a mason jar my gf has a channel with some great recipe videos "Elysia Vegan" is the search in YT for her as just typing Elysia gets you nowhere close haha. anyway, id love to hear your pro's and con's between the 2 programs and keep up the great personality you have in your videos!!!
