Not a problem. I will sign my videos up for the revenue share program when it pops up. I did not read anywhere that you have to subscribe yourself. There is no difference between a view from a subscriber or a view from someone that watches an ad. Both will generate money, and a "RED Subscriber" view will possibly create more revenue depending on the amount of videos that person watches.

It will be interesting to see what happens to ad revenue. I don't rely on YouTube earnings, so I can look at it level headed.

AFAIK, you already signed it, its included in the new youtube partner agreement, where most of us only look at the revenue share.

These are all really awesome responses and they've made me feel a lot better! Thank you guys. I also don't rely on YouTube alone, but its nice to know that if I did, I won't have to get another job after YouTube Red comes out XD

I dont' think so. Back in June Last Year a pop up showed up asking if I wanted my videos to be part of a subscription service.

dont worry, all channel are enabled by default, so your videos wont go private as stated in the article. But i still dont understand exactly how it work, perhaps someone can explain a little more details.

I think the Tech Crunch article describes it best.
