I haven't received a notification about this at all. Could it be possible that this sort of stuff is decided by the network one is partnered with? Guess I'll send in a support ticket to them just to be sure.

I doubt YouTube is going to make content creators pay money to be able to upload videos. That would be incredibly backwards. Google is smarter than that.

This might help with revenue for some content creators. A 1000 views usually equals to $1-$5, but with RED you can make a lot more it just depends on how long people watch you. If 1000 people are subscribed to 20 channels and they watch all the channels equally, each channel will get $250.[DOUBLEPOST=1445470060,1445469972][/DOUBLEPOST]
Google is working on stopping adblock from working on Youtube.[DOUBLEPOST=1445470271][/DOUBLEPOST]
I agree with you ad-blockers dose not help Youtube or content creators, they only slow down the growth of Youtubers. RED is only going to help smaller channels.

Problem with that is we know it most likely won't be that even. However, I am going to give it a shot when I said "opting in" I mean buying the service right away. Time will tell, and I may do it at launch to see what it does.

From what I have read and understood, content creators do not have to buy YouTube Red in order to keep videos online. In fact I'm pretty sure the people least likely to buy YouTube Red will be the content creators who will spend more time on adding to the collection than watching it.

As for the money issue, it doesn't worry me for two core reason - firstly, at this stage money isn't a thing I do YouTube for, I entertain :P Second of all it seems that this cut of the YTRed Subscription Fee actually isn't all that bad. You'll get affected maybe early on when there is the odd subscriber but apart from that the money will pop up nicely. Most of my demographic is from the UK anyway so I won't be losing too much - intrigued to see how this first trial month pans out for my US viewers though.

I'm just throwing my 2 cents in over this and saying i don't think it's a good idea. I mean sure it's an awesome idea if you're one of the big youtubers with the millions and millions of subscribers but for the small channels on here, it doesn't exactly sound appealing. I don't have monetization on my vids but those that do how are they going to be getting anything when the money comes from people watching their videos and seeing ads? If the ads aren't there and the money is split from that initial $10 that will end up being a minute amount.

I don't know, the whole thing just seems wrong to me. As does the whole making videos on inactive accounts private. They're part of internet history and i'd like the videos to stay.

Maybe we will get a part of YouTube Red's income whenever someone watches our videos via YouTube Red
You do get part of the income, but they have to be a subscriber. And how much you get depends on how long the viewer watches you.[DOUBLEPOST=1445547358,1445546893][/DOUBLEPOST]

If a person that is subscribed to you has Youtube Red, watches you only 5% of the time compared to the other channels that person watches, you will get about 5-20 cents. Which is a lot compared to 1 view with an ads which gives you 0.001 - 0.005. I think this will help small channels as well.
