Intro or no intro?

I think a short intro is fine. There is nothing wrong with a three second intro!

Depends on how long the intro is and I wouldn't want to waste 3 seconds watching the intro and finding out it was the best part of the video I say just introduce yourself.

A while back I started to add a short (2-3 second) intro to my videos, but someone pointed out to me that I shouldn't do that. Now I have started to doubt myself, what do you guys think? (the video in my signature does not have that intro).

I have an intro that lasts 2-3 seconds, its probably the thing I get most compliments from on my channel, I think its a good book end to a video, it introduces who you are, people will stick around to watch the content if they like what they see in the first 3 seconds

I would suggest very short, very snappy - 2 seconds is enough that even subscribers wont mind!

I'm new to this - a total noob. I make my videos with about a 20 second hook and then a 10 second logo intro followed with about 4 1/2 minutes of video. Am I on the right path here? I need all the help I can get

It really depends on the type of content you upload. If you're a tutorial channel and you teach people how to do things I think an intro will help you tremendously and will make you look much more professional. Now if you upload gaming content, an intro would be a big no for me. The only intro you need for gaming videos is you saying hey what's up or something like that at the beginning of the video.

I used to have an intro, but it was about 20 secs, and I was informed that it was too long and for those that subscribe it was repetitive. So I took them out and they were gone for a while. Then I was looking at retention and wanted to keep that steep drop off after the first few seconds. So I again added a 3 sec mini clip of a scene from later in the show, so people would know what to expect and hopefully keep them tuned in longer. It is currently on my latest episode so we will see how it affects retention.

tl:dr

IMO- Intros should be fine as long as they are short and relevant to the video you are actually watching.

I am small channel but I personally add a 5-8 second funny clip from the video itself and then into my intro which is 10 seconds long. I find it to be a very good setup.
