I am currently at the stage where I am debating the same thing. I personally think that a videos main branding comes before the video even starts (with thumbnails) so if a viewer has come to a video they generally already know what it is about and if they will like it. My main put off is poor quality - a good quality video will hook me even if i'm not necessarily interested in the actual content specifically

I use an intro of 10 sec because it makes it look more professional, and sort of branding your channel (even though the intro was free and only needed some fixing). But if it`s just a short video of a clip or something I skip it. Don`t want the intro to take more time than the video itself. I don`t really have any stats on if it improved my channel or not, but I like to think that it did. It makes the video more special, people know who they watch, remember they have seen it before. It might be good, or bad, but a good, short intro is ok. The worst intros are the ones that takes 20 sec or more to watch, then I just see something else on "related videos" and skip the rest of the video.

Ok so I have no videos I recently privated them all due to me wanting to restart. Anyways with my first video should I just get straight into things and stuff or should I make like an intro video with what my channel is about and stuff like that?

Just get right into it. No point in an intro video if nobody's watching yet, unless you just want something to use as a trailer.

Thanks for your input and no it isn't really a trailer it's more just me talking about my channel I was thinking which can get a bit boring so yea ;)

My intro is just a short 1.2 second clip of my name in a pretty background :) I like to have it in every video though so it's kind of expected ^_^

What you could do is start out with introducing yourself and what the video will cover in the first 3-5 seconds, then put your intro, then start the content of the video.
For example, look up Video Influencers on Youtube they do this in most of their videos.

I think it depends on what type of videos you're putting up. Like if you're doing gaming then maybe you should do a intro. I'm a vlogger so I don't really put introductions. Instead I structure my videos with montages and a few texts to depict what vlog number and where I'm located.

I wanna mess around with a new style of intro, a see through one that would come on screen but have no sound, and it would move right along into the video, shorting the over all length, and minimizing the (IM ADVERTISING) feel most Intros provide. I really have nothing to show of this idea, but a example would be like a plane flying across the screen pulling a flag with Game Goofs, making no sound, cause the episode began once you clicked.[DOUBLEPOST=1465252258,1465252161][/DOUBLEPOST]
I would usually say no to an intro, BUT for pet channels I think its a good idea if you want to build a familiarity with your videos. How will i know after watching 50 cat videos which ones were yours? the familiar branding is all you need. and 2 seconds is more than enough to establish that. :)
Thats a really good point, it would strongly depend on the content, and or if it is a saturated market.
