or just do it for the love man!

who i am kidding - if i didnt get paid i would quit.
Lol, i been seeing your comments here and there and i have come to determine you really either dislike or just used to the monotony of it and its lol. Specially the fact you're avatar reflects that in a way.

---------------edit afterthought----------------------
Why not start a channel you really enjoy? and use this one as means to survive while you grow the one you actually like...or hell pay someone to manage it for you.

I think he got $200 per 2M views because the video was demonetised (so no ads showing), so he only got the revenue from Youtube Red.

This is a guess, as I have a demonetised video with similar revenue/views ratio who got 0 dollars from ads but some from Youtube Red

Hey man - ive got several channels already. Most of them are nearly 4 years old and the only one that is really making money is my most tedious. Its a shame in a way but I cant complain too much as it pays me a nice monthly bonus..

I would never recommend quitting an normal 9-5 job to do Youtube full time since it's pretty inconsistent. If you're actually making some money that's good but I'd still keep a part time job on the side or invest in some kind of multi-level marketing since Youtubers spend quite a bit of time online as well. Selling merchandise, patreon and donations always help too.

In my opinion as long as you have another income coming in then Youtube should be fine whether you make 10 cents or 10 dollars.
For example "ILL WiLL Press" lost all of their monetization once Youtube changed it's Terms of Service. And now they are only making money from Patreon and merchandise. One of the best examples I've seen so far of an artist struggling to get by. But at least they are still making it work for the fans. That's inspiring. =]

Also, I think if some of your videos have been flagged as inappropriate, you get a lower tier of advertising, so someone else with no 'strikes' on their channel could make a substantial amount for 2m views.
I haven't seen many of the 'family friendly' types complaining too much about the ad-strike business, even with the much bigger youtubers like pointless blog, zoella ect. because they will probably be getting the top tier ads, for being family friendly and having a huge audience...
I think it does depend on what kind of content you are, and are planning on making.
This whole thing is just a mess, I really hate that brands have started pulling ads based on what the general media is saying about youtube, because of COURSE mainstream media is going to be salty about the fact that youtube is 'free' and totally accessible to everyone, and you can customise your viewing experience without having to pay an extra £5 on top of your TV bill each month for new channels.
It's the same business as 'millennials are ruining the woooorlllddd!!'

bit of a rant lol oops

I was reading an article recently that spoke of Artificial Intelligence ads. I think some of the algorithm exists today but it's being enhanced so that if you use apple pay and buy lots of certain foods your web browser will know and will send you ads with discounts of the foods you buy. Of course this works with other interests.

I could see YouTube including this. Say you watch lots of gaming that includes sports. One ad could be related to gaming sports for one person and adventure gaming ads for another

Google is doing this for a long time already, there's a reason I keep getting LG ads everywhere

Let's face it, he makes $200 because his videos had been flag and demonetize so thats the reason! Still I get my montly $2 !!
