I might want to try vlogging in Walmart, but when I have money to burn so I can actually be seen buying stuff. As for me being embarrassed, the only time I happened was an ep I did at a Diner. Me and some friends would sit and discuss the latest geeky things going on. Usually I don't mind, but this one time we had a bunch of retired policemen sit next to our table and yeah.... I wasn't going to film myself talking about Marvel movies and FNAF with them across the table. I don't know... it felt awkward and we waited til they left before we started filming.

Last summer, when we were in NYC, we shot a George and DOG video all over the city. Sitting on a park bench, talking in a strange vaguely European accent with a cat puppet in a big city was surreal. Every single person who walked by smiled at us, so that was really nice, but we haven't really done anything like it since. I really would like to feel more comfortable, because there are a lot of limitations when you're in the house, even with the ability to use green screen.

I shot interviews with cosplayers & comic artists at LSCC the other weekend. First day I was so shy & felt I was putting people out by asking them about their work on my channel - even though it's basically free advertising for them! The next day I was so much better. Several of the independent comics companies were really grateful I had interviewed them; they are often overlooked in favour of the more obvious companies I think. But they had such interesting ideas I even ended up buying some of their comics!

It's a really, really steep learning curve. Like old style swimming lessons, you have to jump in & flail around a bit until you get the hang of it. The last videos I did at LSCC came out really well (compared to the first ones the day before). So you just have to take a deep breath & go for it!

I am going to try to do another tomorrow... wish me luck! (nervous as hell!) ^_^

Its still tough to vlog in public even after 2 years of daily vlogging :p I just take a deep breath and do it. It helps to just focus on the camera and not look at people, and I also practised a lot without actually filming before officially starting :)

Yeah good point... knowing what you want to do beforehand makes it easier. Winging it doesn't feel so daft at home, but when people can overhear/see you it will affect your ability to do things on the fly... so practice and things first is a good idea :)

I needed to memorise interview questions... my first interview I had two in mind to ask but as soon as we were rolling I completely forget them! haha.

I vlogged in a local comic book store and didn't have a care in the world. Back in the day I even had a cam strapped to my head in a grocery store.

I film in comic shops during Free Comic Book Day, though I just film the books while everyone is too busy with their own business and add the voice over later. I just feel kinda shy talking out loud with other people besides the owners (they already know I make videos).

I do want to do that Walmart video someday.....

I always feel I am in other people's way or might accidentally get someone in shot who doesn't want to be filmed. Basically, too considerate for my own good!
