January CPM drop thread

As we all know, as usual after Christmas season the earnings plummet in January.

Now that the first couple of days earnings are in, I think I can say safely that my monthly revenue will be down of at least 50-60% :banghead:

What about you?
 
Yeah Q1 of the year is terrifying for creators xD Think I just got the analytics for the last couple of days and it has dropped a bit :/
 
60% for me as of now. Right after I got two videos getting far more views than everything else I've made too. Oh well, no major big.
 
This is the worst cpm ever! See my statistics, right now I am earning 3$ per 16000 views. Almost the same as last year, with the difference that then I had only 4000 views per day. WTF youtube? This is ridiculous.

Yeah, you're totally right. It's YouTube's fault that online advertising to have been historically overpriced for the return it provides, consumers spend too much over Christmas, don't buy much in January/February and as a result, companies have adapted to spend less on advertising in general over those months while consumer bank accounts recover.

WTF YouTube? This is ridiculous.

Except it has little to do with YouTube and everything to do with advertisers and the massive overload of channels on YouTube.

My RPM for these first few days of the year is 40% less than that of 2015. My views are higher, but they aren't higher due to extra traffic from foreign countries (which would explain a steep drop compared to last year). yeah for january 2015 my CPM was 6 dollars, january 2016 is 3 dollars. 2017 will be the last year for youtube creators to earn money x)
