Hot Topic ** YouTube reduces sub counts ** (all discussion goes here)

i am guessing an inactive sub is someone who either never uses youtube anymore (quite unlikely) or they do use it, but they either don't log into their account anymore or have created a new one, thats my only explanation

By the way @Lightsen I am so sorry that you have lost over 3000 subs thats so awful :(
yeah 3,700 or so, so nearly 4k XD
as long as they are really inactive I dont mind, but considering theyve already cleared them out a few months back and this is one of the biggest cuts i've got from a clearout, I really would like some clarity. what makes someone inactive? i only post every few months, if someone doesn't watch me for a few months between uploads is that cause to delete them from me? I sure hope not or I'm screwed

I lost about 10. It's not a huge deal, but it was annoying to see. But still, if it's happening across the board, it's just one of those things. Off to chase after some more subscribers! :)

Lost 41 here. Not too worried since I've been on hiatus anyway, and I'm more focused on developing a new game than my YT channel. lol.

Okay, well, you can panic a little but that's only because it stings, right? Youtube did their purge of what they consider "inactive" subs. From what I've gathered some may be suspended, some inactive, and some duplicates of subscribers youtube messed up on. Even Pewdiepie lost over 500k (maybe even way over that)

I've seen a lot of threads over people getting anxious they woke up and suddenly they lost people, like their content sucks or something overnight! No, no. Don't worry.

Yes, it hurts because seeing your sub count drop is never fun, but don't get discouraged. I worry this might bug a lot of people, especially those who hit certain milestones and now have to hit them all over again. Keep making your great content and cheer up! Think of it as a little motivation to work harder to get those subs all over again, and at least you're not alone. Good luck to everyone!

we've all seen, youtube has reevaluated its users and trashed all the inactive subscribers!
I know this is super annoying, especially for us who lost a big chunk of subscriber numbers, or those of us who have been really close to their next milestone!
We were near 2k, and now we have another 50 odd more to get there again!
Although it seems discouraging, its ultimately a good thing, though. More of us should be in the mindset that views and traffic is much more important than sub numbers. after all, the traffic is what ultimately results in subscribers! Just look at all the viral cat videos, as an example!

nevertheless, good luck to everyone who has to catch up on their numbers again!

exactly! its just that number we all focus on watching! any subs you loose in the purge is just subs that never actively watched the content anyway!
