That's the dipshit that started this. Spot on.[DOUBLEPOST=1511097283,1511096931][/DOUBLEPOST]
I don't want to be right about this. i want to be very very wrong.
Now, I need to get into the deep dark corner of our garage, and pull out all those Thomas sets of early 2016.
I think it was a good idea saving those not dumping them off on ebay.

If anyone has a few minutes, they can run vidoes on some pure toy play non-skit channels (thomas, cars, train sets, trucks, etc) and see if ads a running. @FamilyToyReview, @JackJack have you guys been hit with demonetizations? I would do it but it's after 12am and this has been a long day.

I know.. I'm thinking about just turning this channel into what our thomas channel is. Most of our views are coming from our thomas video on our main channel currently anyways.. We are friends with a thomas channel that do pretty well.. i'll ask them if they are being hit..

Guys anybody has news about top channels banned during this purge?

So far I know of:

- ToyFreaks: socialblade . c0m/youtube/user/3uptheyingyang

- Web&Tiaras: socialblade . c0m/youtube/channel/uc0gnkhfmg-bkynnz_mb3d9q

- AnnaKidsTV: socialblade . c0m/youtube/c/annakidstv (not as humongous as the previous two but still a big channel)

Looks like the train/thomas channel I know is also getting hit. However, they said they have been reviewed and are back to green.

We have not been hit - so far. But then again, we've never had a monetization problem either. My guess is that it's really the "bad baby" and superheroes mixed with Disney characters being hit. I was reminded of how far things have come when VidIQ showed us having some tags in common with a really popular video of a baby drinking from a bottle with a giant spider inside.... On the other hand, our smaller, skit channel has had a few monetization problems, but the've mostly been resolved. Most of them stem from using keywords such as "attack kids" because we have a lot of the shark chase, kids style vids. We'll see how that goes!

I have a bad feeling the powers that be don't want kids to be used as "slaves" to make money for parents any more.

French TV recently did a documentary about the surge in the number of channels doing kids videos. France is usually a bit behind the curve in terms of trends so the fact even mainstream French media is reporting on this is pretty significant. Anyway - The overall tone of the documentary was pretty positive I suppose and the main "angle" of the documentary was that it's an unusual / original way to earn a living and that it certain families were earning very good money from it. Then, the last 10 minutes of the documentary, they addressed the question of the legal issues with these channels. They brought in a lawyer specialised in labour laws. They showed her a sample of videos from some of the biggest channels in the niche and in over 50% of them, her legal opinion was that they violated laws on child labour (based on how the kids were being directed by the parents, their ages and upload frequency). I have no idea if she is right or not but you can be sure that Youtube's legal team will be pondering the same question atm.

Youtube has removed 2 of our videos. It appears the problem is widespread with major kids channels being affected.

Like a thief in the night - there was no email, no warning, no transparency. The only way I found it was scanning through Video Manager - Video - something I do daily now to see if Yt has changed anything without notifying us.

Are channels on here affected?

The videos that were removed - one was from Feb 4 2017, the other from Dec 11 2016. One had views of about 6M, the other over 62M. Apparently the video have been appropriate for about 1 year, and today suddenly became inappropriate.

Are you affected? Is this hitting kids channels only, or the start of a widespread cleanout of the platform?

Demonetization is drastic - what about deleting videos without consultation or notification, especially when YouTube has been promoting those videos for a year?

Why not age-restrict to those under 13 if YouTube so wish. Certainly the videos are appropriate to those over 13. There's a lot more edgy stuff than those 2 videos that 13 year olds watch on Yt.

More questions to ponder - what is "appropriate" - who judged this - one man's s**t is another man's treasure.

It's like someone breaking into your home while you sleep, stealing some of your prized possessions that you worked hard to obtain, and throwing them in the garbage - the only way you know about it is when you take out the kitchen trash in the morning, open the wheelie bin, and see your stuff inside.

YouTube did mention recently that a lot of bizarre videos are somehow making it into the Kids’ category, so maybe they’ve gone a little overkill and taken too many down. I’m sorry this has happened to you, I hope you can get it fixed!

I've had a discussion with Youtube about this a while ago and have researched into it too. It depends on the specialists if it's legal or not, some say that the home environment is different and should be seen different from the laws the studios have to abide to, others say home recording should be treated the same as studios do. I've read into what politicians in the Netherlands say about this and the majority seem of the opinion that home recording shouldn't have the studio limitations to working hours applied.

Man what a thread. I've been living under a rock. Had no idea channels we're getting taken down. I get it though. I don't like my kid getting exposed to some of that questionable stuff. To save your vids, Maybe in addition to removing tags you guys should also change your thumbnails in case any of your thumbnails look a bit wild. Thumbnails are the first thing we see. Don't need to make their jobs any easier with a loud thumbnail.

I'm still having the same monetization request reviews I've been having like a month or so ago. Pretty much every new video I upload gets hit with the demonetizatiom and I've just learned to deal with it and request manual review over and over. It is a bit annoying though. I just wished I would get a notification so I can request review right away. Derral eve mentioned the ai needs a lot of input so I'm just waiting for the ai to learn that my vids are ok. I didn't realize maybe its my tags. But my videos are young kid friendly so im not too worried.

I don't think YouTube is going the way of banning kids channels in general. There are a lot of popular family vlogs with children and I think it would be confusing to determine the rules of when it's ok to have kids in videos or not. I'm pretty sure family vlogs are acceptable to YouTube. I keep mentioning our fav is axel show.

But yeah we probably need to be overly cautious about the material we put up in these sensitive times. On another note, I thought YT was demonitizing only new vids. But I just found like 20 older vids demonitized for I dunno how long. Doh!!! YouTube!!! I guess more stuff for me to deal with.
