Seeing a higher subscriber count does impact how likely someone is to subscribe since social proof is part of human nature and we naturally feel more trusting of anything that other people are already getting behind - however, hiding your subscriber count completely isn't any better than showing a low sub count, in fact if anything I'd argue that it's worse because now all of that social proof from your existing subs is gone since for all anyone knows you could have 0 subscribers.

The only time I could think may be worth hiding your subscriber count is if you have a high views to subscriber ratio and your channel is purely used for product advertising - and you might not want your customers to lose faith in the size and efficacy of your business when they see that 25 number next to your subscriber count. Even then, you're probably just better off showing it though and working out a way to convert more viewers into subscribers so it doesn't stay so low.

So yeah in short, rather than hiding it, work out what you can do to encourage more people to subscribe. Make sure you have a call to action in your videos, and include a reason that subscribing is going to benefit them as a viewer, for example "Remember to hit subscribe because that way you can stay up to date with our new videos every Tuesday and Friday where we talk about..". If you don't have an upload schedule then just add some other "because" reason like "because of our regular videos where we talk about..". It's an interesting aspect of human psychology, the moment you add a reason after making a request, even if the reason is silly, people are more likely to agree and do it, so that because is important! Also make sure you're saying this aloud rather than just showing it in text since if the actual fun part of the video is over and no-one is talking people will just click off the video at that point, but if you talk to remind them why they should subscribe then they'll be more likely to stick around long enough to hear it, and perhaps hit the subscribe button.

Hope this helps! :)

Hey guys, just wanted to get your thoughts and opinions on my channel/view growth over the past couple of months...

I uploaded my first video on January 1st and have been releasing a a video every Sunday... sometimes one or two during the week in addition to my regular Sunday upload. I have since gained 607 subscribers and I just surpassed 6,100 views.

My question is for you experts, how should I take that growth, are those numbers good thus far? Should I be seeing more subs/views?

Also, I hide my subscription numbers, is that a good or bad thing in your opinion?

Thanks for any input!

Hey, Welcome to YTTALK, I would recommend trying to use your weapon camera facing at enemy or use you head cam, though try to reduce as much breathing noise as possible. Also during intense encounters try adding dramatic build up music to add more intense perspective to the audience. Try checking out this YouTuber, Novritsch. I would not recommend you to hide your subscription numbers due to other YouTubers who look for collabs. If you were to come here and say I have 1 million subs and you hide you subs on your channel, I won't believe and simply won't collab. Another thing is many people usually go on subscribing to you by the amount of subscribers you have already. If you do not feel comfortable showing your subs, its not that big of a deal.

That is amazing growth. Definitely numbers you should be proud of. In my opinion, I'd recommend not hiding your subscriber count. People are far less likely to subscribe if you hide them. It just seems like people who don't show it are hiding something. Haha. Also, when people come across your channel in the comments sections of other videos, they often hover over your name to check if you are a content creator or not. If you show your sub count, they are more likely to click on you.

Why would you even wanna hide such an amazing amount of VIEWS and SUBS?
Don't HIDE at all for whatever reason, you should only stick to uploading your content on Sundays, that's all.

That is really great growth

are paint ball channels a thing? I don't know, its cool though - which is probably a factor in your growth - its kinda like Cod in real life
