Do you hide the fact you have a youtube channel from friends?

When I had my portuguese channel, close friends and my family knew and actually supported me. But with this one, Imma keep it to myself.

Before I started YouTube, I told my family that I wanted to make a gaming channel. So they always knew I was interested in making videos and they were supportive from the beginning. It did take me a while to finally show them my channel though! It's actually nice that they know so it doesn't feel like I'm keeping a secret. I'd tell my friends too, but I haven't talked to them for a while so they don't know.

I told friends and family, but they are not into my content really. I have a facbook page that a few people have liked but I really don't think many people watch my videos. I'm ok with it I guess. I cant make people like it.

Yes.

My friends know I do YouTube or have been planning for quite some time (a bit of a vague answer, but I just started this week/month). If you know your friends are a supportive bunch of people, they will help you into achieving a dream in your life as if it was their's depending how good of a friend they are. For example, a good friend Brandon who I know personally (a high schooler/secondary schooler coming into the same college as me) plays with me often on PC which has rapidly increased my shyness and spread myself around to talk about more people. He also supports by watching videos of mine (if he is interested in the video in itself).

Sharing it away from family members, friends or even on social media to half the people you don't even talk to on a personal scale just suggests (to me on a personal level) that you're ashamed of your channel as @lean ambrose suggested, though I can completely understand why people are nervous about sharing. However I believe it's the same thing.

For me though, it's a yes, but do it only if your friends have always been supportive in what your ambitions are.

When I first started making videos on YouTube in 2007, I kept it to myself, very few of my friends in real life knew about it.

When I started Vlogging (which is what I do now) I tend to share it with family and friends.
