Do you hide the fact you have a youtube channel from friends?

I did for a while, but now I posted my first video on facebook and had good response. I don't think you have to hide
 
I haven't let anyone except for my girlfriend know that I've started a channel. It's one of those things I'd like to keep private until it's gotten to a point where I'm comfortable sharing it. It's hard enough starting a channel as it is, but to worry about family or friends watching during the learning phase is too much for me. I feel like they'd mostly be supportive but in a "Thats cool." type way or "That's interesting,but you know you probably won't succeed right because of X Y and Z". Or the older generation jumping in with " Well, I heard on the news that blah blah.... [something something political statement] and that's why it's bad."

I got nothing to hide. If you have something to hide you probably shouldn't put it on the net! I love doing what I do, and if someone asks what my hobbies are I tell them flat out "I am a YouTuber"
 
Well only a few friends and family know about my channel, my fam doesn't really watch but my friends enjoy my videos :thumbsup2:, I think I'm gonna start promoting my commentaries/podcasts that I'm planning to do just so we can get some people on there to support the cause lol
 
I cringed a bot inside when my family watched my first video, now it's all I ever bang on about. My other halfs kids sat and watched 3 of my videos this evening, all tentatively watching, and giggling at my stupidness. So I figure I must be doing something right and to just keep at it.
 
Haha I love when my family and friends watch! they are deff my number one supporters! I also like to include them in my videos for sure I love it!
 
yes i do hide it from family an friends. im scared they might hate on me an put me down an tell me to do something with my life. but i will share it with them when i feel like im actually succeeding with my channel an when my channel is growing
 
I post stuff related to my channel on social media so if people check that out they will know I have a channel, people in my family nd friend know I have a channel but I don't tell new people I have a channel unles they find out somehow.
 
All of my closest friends do know about it, but I try not to make it public for people like my classmates or I don't post it on my facebook and etc, because the quality of my videos is not that perfect and I will only do that when I feel really confident about it and get more subscribers/views :)
