YouTube is Removing Videos - Are You Affected?

No, but I had the whole channel lose monetization status while we were out buying nappies and formula for the baby an hour or so ago.

All the icons went to black $ with strikethrough.

Just got home, and it shows that the monetization got disabled. One stroke and 20 minutes later, the status went green but all the videos remained with the grey $ icon.

So now I'm enabling monetization one by one.

So a heads up to all still with barely functioning channels (or otherwise if you're lucky), check your status regularly, could be a bug or some sort of soft-reset. But would hate to not notice it and lose a days' revenue when every dime is so precious now.

When is this ridiculousness going to end?
 
Did you do anything to have the monetization re-enabled? I contacted YT through chat (which is not helpful), but they weren't able to give us any information.

Just so I understand you correctly.

Monetization eligibility just spontaneously changed without you doing anything? And then you went in and monetized all your videos individually?

Right now I'm in the monetization disabled phase and I'm freaking out.

From the time I noticed it to the time we got home and I tried to understand what's happening, about an hour. Then it went back to green by itself, I did nothing. Now I'm going through the individual videos, they seem to be monetizing, the icons are going green.


Wait, there was potentially a trigger - I had our latest upload "under review" since last night, over 12 hours. Maybe the Yt person approved/disapproved that video and that caused something to trigger the channel to demonetize. The whole thing is so unstable, I would not be surprised they are having major software issues. I'm keeping that last upload in unmonetized/grey status for now, there's almost no views so don't matter want the channel to recover first.
 
lol "reaming" should have been remaining.

I really hope you're right. It won't help us in the short term (we have NO traffic); but I don't want to completely start over so keeping the ability to monetize videos on this channel is super important!

That's great. It's likely they needed to restart the monetization modules to initialize some parameters. I used to do something very similar in one of my old tech jobs - that was on billing systems for mobile phone networks.

By any chance was your adsense account temporarily disabled? That's usually what causes that message, the only kids channel I own is Managed so I don't think it can be banned from monetization
