It's about having a good hook, maintaining attention with an entertaining or informative video, or something that keeps people involved, and often it is good to have something good at the end, whether its an extra tip, or just to keep up that entertainment. Its all important. Most important is to have a good hook, as the first 6-20 seconds is when viewers decide whether to watch a video or not.

Yeah i know what video you are talking about, and there are some other the same. :p I need to get a mic i think then put my voice other the video. :p

One thing that I have done, that you might want to consider if you don't have a mic, is using text slides on top of the video to explain what is happening. (I do it because I am telling stories that go along with my music covers, so I want the music to stand by itself and the story to be told through text and pictures.

@subversiveasset has got the right idea here. It's your content. No "hook" will make a difference if your content is just you point your camera at rather monotonous animals. I'm sure things will change once you add your voice to it.

I definitely think the first few seconds are what makes or breaks the video. You need to make sure that your energetic, engaging and you need to keep it up otherwise people will lose interest. Make sure to ask lots of questions and engage your audience with what you're doing, that way they will be curious and want to watch more.

You could use annotations, but those seem unprofessional and most people turn off their annotations because they get in the way of the video.
I didnt know there was an options for people to turn off annotations. So if i turn annotations off on my account ill never see any again in all the videos i watch from now on?

I believe its per session. So if you turn it off, it will stay that way until you close YouTube, then it will be back on. Don't quote me on that though.
