Trying to Talk is Harder Than Previously Thought

Haha I love the title of this video because it is soooo true! It gets a lot easier with practice, instead of posting the first thing you record pick a couple games and do commentary on them and record yourself and once you are done just watch them over and see what you can improve on. : )
Maybe in the future I'll be able to be more selective, but as it stands I'm kind of limited in what I can play haha. But I didn't want to let that stop me from getting started, so I'm working with what I have :)

Hey man! I don't think I've ever related to a thread topic so much.

For me, I always have notes in front of me for my commentary. Although I do voice-over narration, and not live commentary. Do you commentate over your videos as you play games, or afterwards?

It's MUCH easier to fill the air if you do after-recording narration, because you can have topics ready, notes, and the ability to edit narration at will. :)

I do live commentary on my videos. That's because I feel my initial reactions to things are better than anything I could come up with after

Yeah, if you're talking about what's actually happening on-screen, in the game, live commentary is much more beneficial to the quality of your videos.

My advice is to go into the video with some topics in mind, so that you can begin to talk about those topics if you find a gap in the gameplay. :D

I noticed it when I started but as I record so frequently I learned to fill in those silences with random crap.

Sometimes I think "silence" can also be part of the video as it can show the concentration or frustration or anticipation of the creator, other than that as you get more comfortable over time it becomes easier to talk and everything flows together.

Everyone starts off the same even the people you would consider successful youtubers, it's just something you learn to do along the way.

If all else fails then just talk random crap, explain what you're doing, what you see, what you hear, plans for the future, what you had for breakfast. Anything goes.

Using a script is effective but only if you add narration to your video afterwards, I find it really difficult to follow a script on live commentary, don't know about you guys?
