Massive drop in views on kid channels

https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/116/s1916/text

This bill proposes to ban a computer service (aka Google) from suggesting any video featuring a minor. Violation is criminal and a Google employee could be arrested. There is an exemption if the video is from a professional company and was aired on broadcast or cable TV. This bill obviously goes too far, but it shows you how serious this issue has become.

It isn't fair to the creators who worked hard to build their channel from nothing and then have it all taken away, at the benefit of newer channels .

I understand your frustration and I do sympathise. My 6 years experience of being a fulltime YouTuber has taught me one big lesson. - The importance of diversifying income away from Youtube. The creator doesn't own any assets while building a business on YouTube. You have an income only for as long as you're getting views. But that's it. You own the content but since YouTube is a monopoly, those videos are pretty much worthless outside of Youtube. You can't sell a Youtube channel as a going concern like you can a website, for example. YouTube owns the domain name, the servers and makes all the rules about what is allowed and what isn't allowed. They also control the algorithm that drive the traffic to each video. If / when Youtube pull the rug from under a channel's feet, then it's game over.

I'd advise anyone trying to make a stable income online to build other revenue streams totally outside of YouTube and in different niches with different traffic sources and different methods of monetization outside of adsense.

Blogging, affiliate marketing, podcasts, selling digital products, CPA marketing are all viable business models. The important thing is to own assets. So register your own domain name. Use your own hosting and write your own content or pay for writers to write it. Use various traffic source (facebook ads, social media, adwords) as well as Google search so as not to depend totally on Google and don't depend on adsense to monetize. Adsense pays peanuts anyway.

YouTube is great when a channel is getting lots of views but it's waay too risky to not do anything else outside of Youtube.

Many of the top kids channels are losing subs by the thousands. blucollection , disneycollectorbr disneycartoys just to name a few. Mine only has 249,000 subs but I have been losing dozens a day, but it seems like we were all lumped in the same barrel, and only the chosen few so far are exempt, and some are reaping the rewards.
if you hear anything , please post it here.

It will be very interesting to see if Google makes and announces their changes before we get into the toy ad season. There must be some serious conflict within Google about how to deal with this because this has been a news item for far too long without a complete response from Youtube. Google knows how important the under 13 market is, but legally and ethically capitalizing on this is very difficult. I really think Google may need to subsidize revenue on the kids app while they work out balancing commercialization and ethical issues surrounding the app. Google's continued inaction is going to allow competitors to take away market share.

I still see many channels hammered by the recent changes but others taking off like crazy high. Popular channel disneycartoys seemed to be withering the storm but recently got nailed...theengineeringfamily is thriving as is coco melon. . Blucollection is losing subs by the thousands as is disneycollectorbr .. it is indeed a mystery why some were selected for success while many more to the bottom. I'm still hopeful after a manual review mine and many other great channels will be restored to their popularity.

your channel is great, I have a question why do you and similar channels always use strange adult voices that sound robotic? Why dont you use a real child voice? Like in this video of yours
Colors & Shapes with Wooden Tiger Trolley ToySet 3D Little Baby Fun Leaning Shapes Kids Educational where she names colors and numbers using pencils

I would check for titles. I think youtube launched a new update towards strange spammy titles that make no sense. As a parent I wouldn't play a video called

"Little Baby Fun Play Learning Street Vehicles Names with Wooden Helix Slider Toy Set 3D Kids Toys" it just makes no sense what a video is about but jsut trying to trick the algorith using tags in the title which is against ToS.
