Redterrors, I am not really sure you are trying to help here. You seem to just be a person who wants to try to find a reason to disagree, even if there is no reason. You also tend to miss the forest for the trees.
Nobody is questioning the need for child protection when it comes to the 1998 COPPA law which "EXCLUSIVELY" dealt with the collection of Personally Identifiable Information on children WITHOUT parental consent. There is an obvious need for children to be protected from online predators that would use this information to cause a child real harm. No one here is arguing with you on this, even though you seem to think someone is, because you keep alluding to this point that, "We need to protect kids". You also want to argue that the FTC has the authority to "Enforce" COPPA, and no one here has suggested that they don't, but you keep insinuating that someone has said that. It's like you are inventing a reason to disagree so you can try to make yourself look like you understand things better than everyone else. But the truth is, you are agreeing while pretending that you are disagreeing, by intentionally misinterpreting what people say to be something other than what they said.
There is no doubt that you are a smart person, and if you look carefully at what I have said, you will see that just about everything you have said, is in agreement with what I have said. The only real difference between our viewpoints is that you want to focus on YouTube as the bad guy and I want to focus on the FTC as the bad guy. Other than this, you pretty much agree with me on everything.
