I would say it also depends on what kind of content you create. For vlog-type things I'd say no intro preferably, but if you have to have one just say hi or something. For gaming videos or generally videos that are 30+ minutes, you can have an intro that is about 15 seconds long. Although it really also depends on the overall quality and I suppose catchiness of your intro as well. If it's just you saying something or showing some footage of stuff, it better have one heck of a soundtrack to it.
I agree with Maevi, it really does depend on what you post. She was right about vlogs and gaming videos. However some gaming videos are much shorter. I dont think it depends that much on what you post, rather how long the video is. I think the intro should be proportionate. For example, if you have a 3 min funny montage -> no intro. 4-10 mins -> probably only a 4-5 second intro. Anything more than that should be about 6-8 seconds. If an intro gets too long, people lose interest and they only watch maybe a few minutes into the video. The very begining of a video, really needs to grab your audience, so if you are doing a montage, put the best clip at the end. Thats why if you have like a lets play, a lot of times the person who posted that video, will put like a 3-10 second clip of the best part of that video. It really grabs the audience and makes them want to watch the full extent of the video. So an intro should be proportionate to how long the video itself is. And anything more than 3 seconds should be able to grab you really well. This is extremely important if you decide to have an intro clip

My intro is about 10 seconds but in my opinion, its not really that boring unless you literally just watch it over and over and over and over again, but I would love a 2nd opinion on it

I personally do not like watching intros on other peoples videos so I decide against one.

Although I do like when people have short snippets of what is in the video or outtakes as a super mini intro. They do tend to intrigue me.

Normally (not always) I've got a short snippet and my intro. My intro is about 5 seconds and the snippet is more or less the same. Let's say it's under 10 seconds in total. Which should be enough to trigger people without them skipping stuff in the beginning.

What I really wanted to try (and I think I succeeded) is to create something of my own. And I REALLY mean my own. Not from some sort of After Effects template, but actually create something unique.

If you really want an intro, PLEASE keep it 2 seconds maximum.
I hate when people's intros are 5+ seconds...
-.-

None of the above. Intros aren't necessary but if you want to use them, 3-5 seconds is highly recommended. 15 seconds? Your content better be outstanding otherwise I'm out by 10 seconds.

Ha ha me too. I usually have what the channel is about in the first 10 seconds. A quick intro in the next 6 seconds, then on to the content. I personally like having an intro because it bring familiarity to people.

I personally dislike intros. If I clicked on a channel and it had an intro of around 6-8 seconds I can guarantee you I would click away unless I purposely searched for the video and there was an intro, it just becomes an inconvenience if anything.

There was even a case of larger YouTubers testing out an Intro and the feedback from their community was largley negative.

Personally theres no reason for an intro, its too fancy and un-nessecary unless your a 10-13 year old boy learning "GFX" for the first time.

five to ten seconds is usually a good time to base it around but it depends what type of intro it is! If it one of these with a word that wobbles around to music then i would go 5 to 10 but if you have an original idea or something in mind just go for whatever feels good for you!!!
