Used to film a game review show as a kid, but no real way to show it to anyone beyond family. I discovered Youtube, found out how it works and how to film and edit videos and here I am.

I do Youtube, well started to do youtube years and years ago because I couldn't talk to this guy in Public mode of Portal 2
I was so scared!! So, I started putting myself out there and making friends, it scared me. but it got me a lot of confidence and friends.

Decided to make a new channel, just for the same purpose. A new fresh start

I started doing YouTube as something to do. It's also helped me take my mind off all the things that are happening in my life. Some of which aren't so great. I find it soothing to make videos. Also I've always been interested in making videos. I used to direct my own films in high school so I thought I'd take it over to YouTube.

I created my YouTube channel back in 2005, I really wished I just vlog at least once a week when my channel was first created, but I didn't. Fast forward to 2015 I decided to YouTube once a week. Why? cause I like filming, cameras, the tech behind it. And I like acting, skits, and comedy. I sit in front of my computer for my job, but with YouTube I gets me to go out to film and interact with people, away from my computer.

Over the years I've always been interested in learning and discovering new things. After a rough patch where I hit my own particular low and my health, finances, social life, etc took a massive hit - I ended up looking for advice and help to get me out of my rut. I found it in the form of good books, teachers/mentors, and also in the form of some very good teachers on various subjects on YouTube. Since taking the advice and lessons to heart and putting them into practice, I've completely transformed my life from living hell to living awesome - got my health in order, started doing the things I love, and it's completely turned my life around in mind-boggling ways.

I've always had a knack for teaching, I've previously had a job as an English teacher for a short time and it was something I did well - but in the past I could never find something I enjoyed teaching. Fast forward a bit and seeing first hand how the right advice, tips, mentoring etc can transform a life, I saw that this was something I really felt passionate about, and something I could put my teaching skills to good use in, sharing with and helping others to achieve the same transformations I did and start living better lives.

As anyone who's started doing something they truly feel passionate about knows, once you've found it, there's no real turning back. I'm only a month in, but the growth I've had so far has been great and I'm learning and adapting as I go. I'm currently reading through some very helpful books on branding and such and about to give the channel a nice makeover ready for 2016, and I'm investing in some recording equipment so that my videos'll be nicer to watch. I'm determined to do whatever it takes to ensure I can benefit as many lives as possible in the way mine was, so I have high hopes for the future.

It's really nice reading this thread and seeing how many other people here enjoy it as much as me. That's what it's all about - doing something you love!

This question has been asked several times on the forum and I would like to explain my answer in a little bit of detail:

Youtube has changed me. Before I began my channel early this year, I was an extremely camera shy person with a big inferiority complex. I was convinced to do this by another Youtuber who makes really good vlogs and is extremely comfortable in front of the camera. Being a Youtube personality really appealed to me and I wanted to give it a try not so much to be rich or famous, but to conquer my insecurities.

It was a big step for me because I didn’t quite know how to begin. I had a camera and a hobby but my biggest problem was, and sometimes still is, how to avoid getting tongue tied when the red light is blinking. My first few videos were awful. So awful that they never made it onto my Youtube channel. The first few videos that I did upload are better but still not great.

As I filmed more and more, the videos got better but I concede they still could use improvement. My very first uploaded video, which is my Homemade Doughnuts was the scariest because I filmed the first part of it in a public place (the gym) with a bunch of people, some I knew, others I didn’t standing around watching me. I planned it out a week in advance and even remembered a brief script in my head. I would recite the script out loud in my car while driving everyday until I got it right. It was a success. It was a huge step in overcoming the awkwardness we all feel about filming in public. I still go back and watch that video because I believe it was a turning point for me.

The biggest change is that the camera shyness is completely gone. In fact, I now love being in front of the camera and willing to do things I would never consider doing in the past such as dancing, wearing NO makeup, and acting like a clown. I can’t see myself not doing this because I’m really having so much fun now.

That is why I Youtube
This was awesome! Who was the youtuber that inspired you? For me I'm very picky who I watch on youtube, because I like have standards? Lol idk, but the few people that I did watch later on inspired me to do what they do! But that's not wasn't the first time they got me off from just playing the same ol games years after years and exploring new titles and actually feeling like a gamer! See I love video games always have and probably always will and to say that I can have fun from cod, to minecraft, to smite, to 2k sports to even a lego game is awesome. So after they inspired me to become a youtuber I immediately made a section dedicated to those youtubers and that section will forever be on my channel. Now I'm 300 subs deep and I have supporters inspiring me people looking forward to my own personal content! I can't wait to hit 1k-10k-100k not to be famous, but just to know I make people happy and entertain others and make others feel how I felt the day my favorite youtubers inspired me to make my own channel!
