I worked for 4 years, 10 hours + a week to get my channel where it is, without spending a dime on Youtube advertising. Since I only have 700 subs I get kicked out of the cool club.

I am not going to complain because we already know Youtube is run like a zoo without cages, they are what you shouldn't do when running a large website. So no use poo-pooing on them its just fact.

But with Vidme gone and Vimeo an impossibility, the Youtubes is the only game in town. I mean Twitch is there and I can do the same thing but they do not have a good marketing strategy for premade videos. Other than being a past-time why would anyone consider even starting a channel now or continuing one that is hundreds of subs away from this unresearched threshold?

Just another way Google and Youtube does not give a crap about you... when you are that big, that is what happens.

What does this mean for new channels being partnered with MCNs?

I alluded to this earlier today. I think there were many meetings at MCN's who will now start praying on the small channel with few subs. Perhaps tying them into long contracts with big revenue share because they know that the channel has little to no chance of earning any money by themselves.
I could be completely wrong but there are always people that will prey on others.

I can't believe it. I have over 7m views but I only have 806 subscribers.

I feel for you but I wouldn't recommend asking for subs anywhere apart from in your videos.
It may be just my cynical side but I think Youtube / Google can already track sub 4 subs and I also think there will be a massive inactive subs purge around the 15th of next month

Totally support these new rules. There are so many low quality channels with fake views and subscribers. If you want to earn money, spend some time on creating quality stuff. I didn't plan to monetize my channel, this was created for fun and pleasure.

There was a thread on YT's own help group that had >1000 posts from those whining that they had heard nothing about getting monetized (before this recent change). I checked out some of the channels and almost all of them were total crap.... they were poor quality and all seem to be made for the sole purpose to get monetization. Advertisers do not want their adverts on such crap.

I understand that in Adsense for websites, >95% are being rejected. ....
