I am sure they probably analyzed the amount of manpower to review and insure that smaller channels are remaining advertiser friendly and found that the amount of manpower required to make sure that there advertisers are happy was not worth it on channels that only earn them a couple bucks per month. now they can focus there manpower on a smaller number of channels. that earn them a larger income.

I really don't blame them. it just really sucks. esp the timing for me, I don't think that its a goal I cant reach but being I was already earning some money Its going to take a lot of effort to get back to earning anything. I could be earning money that could be re invested into my channel during that time just to be able to be re-monetized. if I had 6mo-1 year notice on this change I don't think it would be a problem. but a bit over a month isn't going to happen.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not really against this. I think that it discourages those who do YT specifically for monetary gain. I think the hurdle of 1k is a biiiiiit much, but not a horrible idea. 500 would be a bit more reasonable imo. That's just me though, I would like to hear what others think.

Note: There is some other view limitation, but I don't remember that tbh. If you have issues with that please explain what it is for my dumb a** lol.

I must admit this move by YouTube is no surprise, I predicted as much a few days before it happened on the 10K monetisation thread " I suspect there are going to be further changes to the monetisation review process which no doubt will be announced in late January."

The question is, what are the greater implications of this move for the Creator community? In one fell swoop YouTube have pretty much disenfranchised the majority of their Creators. I have no way of knowing for sure but I imagine Creators with less than 1000subs/4K hours are the vast majority of Creators at the present time.

Now YouTube has created a situation where the majority of Creators won't get advertiser inventory. Which makes those Creators a liability in YouTubes eyes, they earn nothing for the platform. Yes, they create content that gets views but without advertisers that content is completely worthless to YouTube.

The next step will be ever tightening of conditions for non partner Creators on YouTube. Limitations on video resolution (no 4K for you freeloaders!), video duration, possibly even upload frequency. YouTube only want Creators that will provide income for the platform, the rest of you can rack off!

Eventually I can foresee the introduction of a Creator pays system. You want the ability to upload in 4K, you pay a monthly fee. Videos longer than 15 minutes, the same.

YouTube clearly want to get rid of the majority of Creators on their platform. They want some big fish in a much smaller pond, so they can go to advertisers and say our ad inventory is of the highest quality, no more crap inventory on rubbish channels. Small channels are worthless to YouTube!

Hold on tight everyone because the next 12 months are going to be brutal for YouTube Creators. Not just Creators but forums like Yttalk, services like TubeBuddy and vidIQ, they are all going to suffer as the Creator community gets decimated.

I didn’t read thru 14 pages, maybe this was said. You need $100 to withdrawl money as it is, unless you close your account. Meaning under 4K hours likely earns (guessing) on average 99 or less. It also means tons of accounts have some money they’ll never get. Across a million channels it could be a bit. Maybe it was in part to avoid dealing with that. Not being able to get money out to people etc, and avoid a class action

Who Knows! It could be anything![DOUBLEPOST=1516239277,1516239068][/DOUBLEPOST]I also wish this was in the main board as it is truly a hot topic but also there are many locked threads about this there, but not this one

iBFTL!
I think this is a great idea on Youtube’s part.. It not only discourages spammers and everyone and their dog from making krappy videos just so they can make $6 but it will eventually mean less competition and hopefully higher paying ads..
The other limitation is 4K hours of watchtime in the previous 12 months.

BUT if they lowered it to 500, they would need probably 3 times the inventory of adverts to supply and they just do not have that. The supply of advertising is not a bottomless bit.
