I hope we still have access to the Youtube Music Library. It's the only music I can use without the risk of getting my video copyright claimed or muted.

ya this is going too far for me, i rather go to another site like viemo or dailymotion that does care about creators. sure you may say its not worth it but everyone says that on youtube too.

I'm curious if this will be a yearly thing, if you pass one year, do you retain monetisation the second time around when you don't get 4000 hours of watch time in the second year, it will be interesting to see what happens here.

What I am curious about is how people will get there when YouTube doesn't promote content anywhere near as much as when it is monetised. Why would YouTube want to promote videos displaying no ads at all, it doesn't make sense to give those videos anywhere near as much attention as those that are making them money already.

It seems all new channels will be in a for a massive drag of a YouTube experience until they finally muster up enough watch time.

This change has affected our toy channel since we are only a small 1 year old channel. We got the 1000 subs but we did not met the 4000 hours last year therefore YT gave us a 30 days notice before they terminate our YPP or monetization. We do not know what to do now, we do love what we are doing but it seems like our new videos are not getting views and now we are not getting to have a chance to earn even a few cents til we reach the 4000 hours mark :crying: it is kinda fustrating and we explained the situation to the kids and their question was: Are we still going to continue our channel? My wife and I just told them, that we will eventhough we won’t gain profit for now, as long as we all enjoy and love what we are doing. But really we do wish that we will get those hours or views in no time. We are planing to use adwords in-stream to help us out achieve it... any advice?

Personally, the only thing that gets me riled up, is the fact that their blog makes it sound like they're doing this to prevent any more Logan Pauls, even though nothing a small channel has ever done can create that sort of controversy. If they had left that part out, I wouldn't mind as much, cause hey, I am a small channel, and it took 3 years to get paid the first time. XD

I'll be keeping an eye on my videos to see if they are still playing ads, which I suspect they will. They did before it was monetized.
