YouTube is Removing Videos - Are You Affected?

And considering the recent media coverage (Forbes, Washington Post, DM, People, etc), YouTube seems to promote cute-kids-unboxing-toys-content.

Washington Post did a mostly positive article about Ryan Toy Reviews. A very nice story about the right way to do it. Unfortunately, the publicity of the gross sums of money will entice more bad actors to enter this space for the wrong reasons, which is making money. Youtube has done a good job banning and demonetizing channels that were in it for the wrong reasons.

I love YouTube, but they are wrong. My family friendly channel has been mistreated by being removed from the kids app and now monetization is disabled.

I had high expectations in YouTube, spending long hours editing and learning techniques from scratch. Yes it was difficult to upload consitantly but working parents full time would only allow such time. Discouragement played a role once our videos were barely viewed as I know our quality and content is good.

Why is this happening to our channel when there are hundreds of inappropriate videos out there? I’ve contacted Support a few times only to be told “this is a new protocol YT is ensuring all accounts are family friendly.” Well ours is and yet no changes are made. Such a shame we really enjoyed this channel.

There should be a contact number or a way to reach a higher authority in YouTube as I will always enjoy our channel and continue if given a chance to be featured.

Our channel was wrongly effected and it’s discouraging creating content with limited opportunities. We enjoy making videos and was hoping this could be a long term thing. However, with limited exposure and unfair treatment, it’s impossible to get this cleared.

Upon reading this forum I noticed some bad baby tags I inserted due to the popularity at the time. Perhaps this flagged our channel.

I agree that there are so many inappropriate channels out there that are in the "kids" category. Maybe that's why it's happening to you. not saying your channel isnt appropriate (looked fine to me when i glanced at it) but seems like yt is being pressured to go over the channels and maybe their bot is just flagging channels that shouldn't be flagged :/
I would say contact them and see if they can fix it but seems like you already have. thats very unfortunate. hopefully they get in touch with you again and remonetize your videos

I agree and I hope there’s still a chance. I have contacted support again because this was really fun to do. But as you can see one video has 800k and after that barely hundreds. It’s been discouraging and extremely unfair as I know we have plenty of potential.

The kids space has been rooted. If you look at their guidelines of what's "kids safe', the example video they have has a shark chase a kid and bite off the dad's arm. Now that's kids safe, but
learning colors isn't. Their other examples have virtually no views, because while it's "super education" no kids give a crap and don't watch as it's boring, and the only way those shows get funding is on PBS.

We have a saying in Russian, loosely translated "s**t's not going out the a**, but up into the head". That's where the Yt kids space is right now. i sent you a pm with more info....

There are several dozen metadata terms, either in tags, descr or title that were banned. Any of those would have led to individual video demonetizations or deletions, or whole channel demonetization or deletion, depending of how much you were "masquerading as family-friendly" [Yt term not mine]. Depending on your status now, there are several avenues being explored and worked with Yt, slowly but surely.
