I'm less than a year on YoutTube, and I keep my videos under 3 minutes usually. To viewers I'm nobody. I want them to find interest as soon as my video starts, keep them entertained, and for them to want more once it ends.
I am fine with most lengths of videos, a 25 minute long gaming video is usually the kind of thing I watched when I was having lunch when I lived alone. As for making videos, I find that my viewers can't be bothered to watch things much longer than about 6 minutes, sometimes 8 minutes, but for the most part I don't upload videos longer than 10 minutes because many viewers simply don't want to take the time out of their day to watch anything that long
It is definitely a broad topic depending on the subject matter. I am currently trying to keep my videos somewhere between 6-8 minutes. Hopefully this is quality stuff as I don't want a lot of chaff or filler in there. Practice makes perfect though!
To rank better in the YouTube rankings it's done on interactions, engagement and time spent- so get the balance right. With the edit make sure its all killer no filler generally if you can keep audiences gripped for a longer period of time then your video is good! I would try and do 4 min + generally though
