Whats the story behind your channel name?

It took ages to pick my channel name (way too long..) but I really wanted a name that rolls off the tongue! But more importantly I wanted something slightly sarcastic and something to convey the non 'super seriousness' of some gaming communities found today. Not that being a very serious gamer is a bad thing. But I wanted to capture the fun and almost whimsical side of video games. Because at the end of the day, thats what they are, games! :D

I setup my YouTube channel WAAAAAY back in 2006 - SonicR360 (Pronounced Sonic R Three Sixty). And to be honest I never changed it! I think it was linked to Street Fighter 2 Character who said "Sonic Boom" - I think the R stood for Revolution and 360 movement or something like that :)

If you read each syllable individually, phonetically it's supposed to read out, "emm-ae-see" or M, A, C, which spells out my first name. Logo represents that as well, it's just "MAC" sideways with the letters overlapping.

My friend and I are massive Aphex Twin fans. Back in high school, he made the username "SirVentolin" and I followed suit with "LordWindowlicker". As you may have guessed if you didn't already know, Windowlicker and Ventolin are both tracks by Aphex Twin.

He has long since stopped using his, but mine has stuck (partially due to laziness, I guess)
I actually agonized over changing it when I decided to go forward with my channel (due to it being really odd, and the negative connotation), but I spoke with a couple of notable Youtubers that I have had contact with.. And they didn't see any real reason for me to change it. So, it stuck.

Mine is totally mainstream, so I'll talk about before I changed my name. I used to go by the name sca-replayer when i was a gaming channel. I wanted something unique and has wordplay so i used scare and player and put it together with a dash and here was the birth of the then called channel sca-replayer (pronounced scary player). ThatGeekyGuy came as i was always being called by it in school.

Mine is a tad weird I think.

Some years ago I started a band with a friend that would have a strong post-apocalypse theme in the lyrics (metal band) and we thought it would be funny to have a completely different style of music to use as an intro for concerts, so I found this:

The band never really got very far, but I really liked the video and thought it was a great product of it's time...also kinda fell in love with the turtle character and was in need of a new user name to use on forums etc, and I thought: He's a very safety oriented turtle...so...safety turtle...I kinda liked it and just stuck with it and now I use part of the melody from the video as an intro to my videos and think the name "Safety Turtle" is somewhat unique.

Also...I'm a huge TMNT fanboy since I was a wee kid in the 90's and watched the cartoon on TV.

For me it was about wanting something that obscured my real name. I work in digital marketing and clients search for me. It is always prudent to have a division between real life/social media and work!

The name itself was born out of thinking about what my personal brand might be. I realised that my eyebrows (see for yourself in my vids lol) are the strongest feature I have. Cara Delevigne would die for them haha.

They have often been pointed out as being 'mighty brows' and from there it was a done deal.
