What's the Best Video Editing Software?

Has anyone ever heard of Lightworks? I've heard a lot of good things about it, but when I tried using it it felt so complicated to use.

I do really like Sony Vegas, but honestly, whether it be Vegas, After Effects, etc, you'll never really go wrong.

Oh, and Vegas Movie Studio (the lower end version of Vegas I think?) isn't bad either, but if you do really professional-type videos, I remember discovering there are certain limitiations to things like resolution, etc. If I remember correctly.

All in all, any mainstream editor will do fine, except Live Movie Maker. It sucks, and I would never use it.

Also, it's different and doesn't use a "timeline" layout like Vegas, After Effects, etc but you can try "Lightworks". It's basically a fully-featured open-source video editor. Very powerful, but there's a bit of a learning curve to the way they have it laid out. Still, it can pretty much do most anything the others can, and it's totally free. You just need to sign up with a free account and you're done. Check it out![DOUBLEPOST=1445744200,1445744111][/DOUBLEPOST]

Ha, you beat me to it! Same, it felt complicated, but it's fully featured as far as I know... I believe they did used to have a "timeline" like in the other editors, but they did away with that after beta?

Still, if someone puts a little time into learning it, I bet they can produce really good videos with it, and it may even be faster and simpler than Vegas after you've learned it. Or so I've heard.

I'm still trying to figure out what additional features it could do that Vegas cannot. For the meantime, I'll just stick to what I got. It's working well. :)

A lot of people use high quality programs like adobe premiere, sony vegas etc But when you watched their video's, its all a waist of your money! Those type's of video software is really nice if you want to recreate your video and put a lot of fency things on it.

If you dont do crazy stuff on your vids, but only your intro, video, outro and maybe a face cam, it doenst really matter what you are using.

Just pic something you like and don't waist your money if you don't need to.

Thats my advice... ;)

I use Adobe Premiere, I was previously using Movie Maker, but it is not really mean to for gaming. It may be great for simple videos or even 24 fps live videos, but for gaming it was horrible. I have no regrets for going to Adobe Premiere. Sony Vegas seems to be the one a lot of people like, but it is way to pricey for my taste. That is the kind of thing you buy when your making money from your work and can budge operating costs in.

What is the very best video editing software? We personally use Power Director 13, because of it's fast rendering speeds and plan on upgrading to the newest Power Director 14 when we save up enough money to purchase it. In you opinion, what do you think the best video editing software is? Sony Vegas? Adobe Premier? What do you use?
I just bought PD14, its more complicated to edit with vs sony vegas but the rendering speeds are phenomenally fast. :)
