Thoughts on "reaction" vids?

I don't like reaction channels much unless it's "kids react to..." kind of videos, but when people just react and reac and there's just nothing else to the channel, it feels a bit... useless? I'll be honest and say that when I started making videos I wanted to have a reaction channel, why? Because it seemed like an easy way to a successful channel... however, trying to actually make these videos was very boring and didn't require anything from me other than a reaction that didn't come naturally. I could never upload anything like that personally, which is why I don't like that kind of videos anymore... waste of talents.

Reaction Vids = $$$$$$ dolla dolla bill yall.

The only reactor I would approve of is h3h3, you gotta add your own original content when doing a reaction video for it be a acceptable.

Reaction vids of some random nobody doing nothing except laughing or crying or whatever should be banned from YouTube. They are an utter waste of bandwidth and diskspace and are often just meant as clickbait anyway.

Proper reaction vids are the sort of things H3H3 does. That is some funny stuff.

I only watch one channel that does a reaction series and they don't do it too often. Overall it is very lazy but seems to bring people in. I think seeing other peoples reactions to something is intriguing to a viewer. If my favorite content creators posted a video of them reacting to something I'd watch it. It's entertaining but on the base of what the content is its just lazy and making someone else's content your own.

Honestly, I dont mind them as long as they ASKED and GOT PERMISSION to use the video they are putting on and reacting to.
And many dont do that.
Also I dont exactly see the point of them. Seeing someone reacting to videos? I dont get it.
Oh well, to each their own.

I think it's important to distinguish between the different types of reaction channels.

If you're talking about those videos where they just show the original video in its entirety, and maybe mutter a few comments, but generally stay plain-faced throughout (and often use it as a loophole to share copyrighted content) - then those suck, for obvious reasons. There's nothing original there. All someone is doing is recording their face cam on top of some copyrighted content, not even editing it or anything, and calling it a video. The reason these channels exist is because they can piggyback views from popular videos like this.

However, reaction channels aren't all bad. In fact some of the best channels are reaction channels, people like Ethan/h3h3, who actually takes the time to make interesting funny content based around his reactions, rather than just plagiarising and staring blankly at a face cam for 20 minutes.

I think it's lazy and cheap if your channel is only reaction videos (or anymore than 10 percent of reaction vids).

I also think most Gaming channels are lazy, too, so take it for what it's worth.

I personally don't find reaction videos that interesting. Not saying I wouldn't do one I just don't think I have the patience to watch someone react to something unless they're a famous individual I care about.
