Need tips for better video editing

A great free video editing software is HitFilm express. It has many functions pro softwares have just without the price tag! If you have money to spend however. I would recommend premiere much like everyone else would on this forum. However it comes at quite a steep price

I guarantee you hardly anyone is using the features you get in Vegas pro but not in Movie studio

I completely agree with you. However I started off slightly differently and went straight into Final Cut Pro X as a friend of mine gave it to me. It was completely overwhelming at first but I am now able to use all the features it has to offer. Nonetheless I do wish that I started on something like iMovie just to plant the roots if you get what I mean?

Sure, I get you. But for most YouTube videos, 90% of it is just splicing clips together and overlaying text. Something inbetween Windows Movie Maker and Adobe Premier Pro Studio Whatever is a good option for a beginner editor.

Really well said.

The only thing I can add is that the editing software is very much a personal choice as today's editors are so powerful that one's far more likely to feel overwhelmed by all the features than constrained by the lack of them. It's then "just" a case of finding the one that fits your editing style the best and that you find easy to use. If you have time, I would really recommend trying to edit each new project you do in a different editor - they all do free trials and a fair few are free anyway. You will learn so much that way. Of the free editors, I really recommend DaVinci Resolve, but again a personal choice. A quick google of "list of video editing software" brings up a few interesting articles with commonly used software if you don't have enough suggestions on this forum to try.
