Massive drop in views on kid channels

This is so hard for everyone affected.. personally we made our business YT some time ago and have been producing content that is all live action and family friendly having been featured on the kids app many times. Now within a month our revenue is down over 75% and getting worse today so I think I am finally understanding this is probably not going to change. Meanwhile rent on our office continues - a huge step that we really at the time thought hard about plus the regular costs of raising a family. I keep telling myself that we always knew this could happen blah blah blah but tbh it doesn't make it hurt any less. I get it from YT perspective, it's simply too big to allow for the level of communication and accountability we would all expect in the real world but I also expect they understand that lives are changed by what is happening. I will never not be thankfull for the chance to do something we are truly passionate about but I will also harbour disappointment had how it seems to be ending. As much as we all tried to convince ourselves otherwise the elephant in the room has finally appeared and once and for all left not doubt that as a creator on YT you are simply a small cog in a very big machine.. thanks for the good times YT but I am now convinced your waking out on me without even a text message to say why..

I agree and feel for you. I left a high paying job to do this full time back in 2102 , never thinking for a second it would come to this and it is all YouTubes fault for allowing anyone to upload anything for money if you can cheat the electronic/man-made algorithm, ..My revenue is down 99% ..and I am now working at a lesser job to pay the bills. it kills me. anyway, I said all this before, so best to you and your business...all the best

The algorithm changes have killed off thousands of people's incomes and livelihoods, yes people with families and bills to pay.
However we don't know that the criteria has been for the channels that made it the ones that got culled.

Yeah, I know one family with 3 kids channels. 2 got hit and the 3rd is thriving. .. they are all the same creators. Still waiting to see what comes next.

Looks like some big channels are recovering, while others are not. Cocomelon is getting back to normal numbers starting yesterday.

I just want to say that I am sorry for all those creators that did things the right way, started a business, and are now getting hit hard. One of things Google does not understand is why kids content became so popular to begin with. I can remember my daughter and her friend many years ago first watching youtube videos. She preferred that style of video even though we had cable with almost all of the channels. Kids like to watch regular people like them. The star power and celebrity status of studio content just isn't that popular with kids. One of our favorite channels back in the day was the Mommy and Gracie Show (Melissa Hunter). These types of videos brought kids to Youtube. Regular people making videos truly because they enjoy it. I suppose all trends in life eventually die and technology trends tend to have even shorter lifespans.

So youtube is actually having an issue with real time data. I will see if it is corrected. I actually thought Youtube put my channel in with the abusers after all this work I have done to help Google. I was seriously about to reach out to the Wall Street Journal.

There is actually a note about it now in the mobile app when you click on your views.

There are several things happening at the moment.

Since the 7th August at 7pm (UK time), realtime stats is under-reporting views ACROSS THE WHOLE OF YOUTUBE (ie not just kids niche)

Discussion about THAT issue on YTtalk:

Let's keep this thread about the kids niche only otherwise the thread won't be making any sense if everyone is talking about different issues. :)
