Massive drop in views on kid channels

I am fine with channels that want to be in denial about their "intended" audience, but I expect Youtube to stop suggesting their videos next to videos that are properly labeled as for kids. When 3/4s of their audience is gone, maybe they will reevaluate. You reap what you sow. You may disagree with COPPA and the FTC's interpretation that channel owners are liable, but that gives you no moral pass to lie. If you are so confident that your interpretation of the law is correct then go file an action in federal court asking for a declaratory judgment. Present your argument and have the US District Judge enjoin the FTC from investigating individual channels. Trying to slip through the cracks and fabricating your intended audience is unethical and draws strong ire from me, someone that passionately believes in due process and fairness for all.

I really don't think that disscussing this matter further will change anything. The rules had changed and we need to comply. I don't see why YT would want to reverse anything, since they've worked on it for couple of months and probably put a lot of thoughts into it (although we might think they haven't). It's really too soon to make any assumptions on how it affected views and revenue. What I'm interested in is how YouTube will try to get back all this revenue they were making on kids content. I don't see how all those big, kids channel would survive with 80% less revenue. They would simply need too shift their careers. I also make part of my living with my kids channel (in Poland). YouTube claimed they will somehow compensate those who were impacted by COPPA. No idea how they're planning to do it, my guess is they will try to make it throught YT KIDS. My whole channel was added to YT Kids, which is good, but I won't make any guesses based on couple of days, although I guess even in Poland I'm too small to be included in this "compensation program". Let's at least wait till February and see how it goes.

The day YouTube put this in place (Monday), that is exactly what did happen. If your videos are set "Not for kids", they cannot appear on the recommended section of videos that are marked "made for kids". I think it's obvious that they had to do that to prevent kids from going directly to content with personalized ads. However, I'm still seeing TONS and TONS of kids content recommended on "not for kids" content which I see as a huge problem. I don't know why YouTube is so dead set on driving viewers to "marked for kids" content even when they are watching general audience content. As a result of this Kids Channels only stand to GAIN views as a result of this change. Revenue on the other hand will probably plummet.

Hey guys I am kind of confused.
My channel is blatantly for kids and I have marked it “for kids” at the channel level. I have fun with my content and I intend to keep trying. But even after the changes were i still don’t see my videos on the yt kids app. Is there a way to see if my videos are on there?
If they aren’t on there, why in the world would they not be since I’ve marked my channel as for kids?

I see. So I have to wait until they eventually put it on there? My channel will be a year old in April and I still have nothing on the kids app xD

day 4 and views keep going down, i hope it keep at low rate but eventually keep at it... my fear is if hit rock bottom like it did on July, some videos were gaining 150k a day and then drop it to 4k a day

Are your videos "made for kids". It seems nearly all made for kids content channels have had views go up because their content continues to be suggested on mature and general audience content. However, "not for kids" content lost any ability to be related or suggested on "made for kids content" so those channels are seeing large view drops. YouTube continues to mostly push kids content in spite of the fact that it is now bringing in just a small fraction of the revenue. I don't get why YouTube continues to punish channels that aren't made for kids and promotes the ones that got them in trouble in the first place. This entire situation feels like a sick joke.
