Massive drop in views on kid channels

Ah. I don't know anything about that topic / movie. I just assumed it was a G - general audience film which wouldn't be targeting kids. I've never seen the film or heard of that song before.
...... Ever hear of Elsagate? Yeah.... that's her. Elsa. The real one. The kids love her. Or at least only those who are 13 and up... according to Disney. Nobody under. Nope. She's not appealing to them. This is so ridiculous...

Saw a news story this morning about this. In a 30 second span, I think I heard them repeat that catchphrase, "This is to protect kids from danger". But no one ever explained what the DANGER was. Can anyone give me a rational, common-sense explanation as to how seeing a Target Ad, on a kid's video, presents an actual DANGER to a kid? I am not talking about psychological mumbo jumbo here, because we all know that more psychologists kill themselves more often than any other profession.

If G rated films aren't targeting kids then I don't know what is. But yeah, if Frozen's target audience is not kids, then their is no such thing as content made for kids.

Also, I found it interesting that YouTube responded back to a question with the answer in the attached screenshot. So as long as part of your target audience includes kids, then your content is made for kids? That makes a whole bunch of channels who probably marked their vids as not for kids who should be then.

Correct, that screenshot confirms that Disney should absolutely be marking that Frozen video as For Kids. But also, that screenshot goes against what I’ve heard up until this point. Up until now, kids content was content DIRECTED to kids. That screenshot says, content which might include kids as part of the audience is For Kids. Which goes to show just how nebulous and unenforceable this stupidity is.

If they truly feel this is protecting kids in some crazy way, I would like for them to tell me how they are going to stop targeting my kids who are under 13 and will still be watching general audience content not marked for kids such as Dude Perfect, DanTDM and every other kid safe streamer who claims their target audience is not kids even if they have millions of kids watching.

Bottom line, they will still be targeting kids in the millions which is why this whole thing is a joke. Remove features from kids under 13, don't remove them from the creators and their videos and as a parent who hands my kid my device to use, then I am giving permission for him to see targeted ads.

Yes! Their wording used here seriously changes everything!!! The worst part is, that is what YouTube is now saying, who knows what the FTC says about that. Also, how can you prove intent? If I say I am targeting an audience of 13-15 year olds, how can you tell me my intent?

I looked at the Eh Be Family general tab to see what they wrote. They now claim they are targeting parents to show how to have fun with your kids. Really???? The funny part is a few weeks ago they did a video saying how great this law is to protect our kids.

some of my videos just went down in views since januany 5th... i think they really pressed the button on 4th :x3blush:

everyone is so quiet...

I was filming in a studio/warehouse for the past four years. However, in Q4 of 2019, with the continuing decline of my channels and expenses exceeding revenue for over a year, enough was enough. I spent the past ten weeks moving everything back home and into storage. Now, it's time to finalize setting up filming stations and get busy for my 14th year on YouTube. 11 of which were focused on making YouTube a thing.

Let's do this...

LEEROY JENKINS!

Team YouTube also said "(1/2) General audience content (content that could appeal to everyone, but is not intended specifically for kids, OR content intended for a teen/older audience) should be set as “Not made for kids.""

Based on that statement though if you aren't specifically targeting kids then you should not mark for kids just because it appeals to them. Saying that if content isn't "intended SPECIFICALLY for kids" is a pretty strong statement.

Except you can't say not specifically towards kids and then in the same breath say part of your audience can't be made for kids. They say if any percente of your video is made for a kids audience then it's made for kids. If you are playing a Nintendo game like Mario or a Pokemon game or Minecraft, how can you keep your content kid friendly but say your not targeting kids at all, 100%. Of course all those family friendly, kid friendly channels are targeting a kid audience too. How does one prove they are playing Pokemon Sword on Nintendo Switch not using any bad language but say they aren't targeting any kid audience at all, 100% no.
