Massive drop in views on kid channels

What we re supposed to do in any case? isn't the deadline December 9th to select an option? I haven't select either for kids or not for kids yet. What the f*ck im supposed to do? what happens i I dont select anything?

How can we decide if they are accepting comments on the FTC until december 9th so nothing is final, but terms are applied on december 10th? what the hell is going on.
Step 1: Read back through the last 30 pages of the thread on this forum.
Step 2: Make your old content a warm glass of milk, read it a bedtime story (not in the style of Ryan Kaji's greedy shoplifting mom's shrieking voice please) by the fireside, tuck it in, tell it you love it.
Step 3: Then flag it for kids
Step 4: Start a new channel, not for 13 year olds, not even for 16 year olds, but for 18 year olds, jussssst to be sure. Don't wait until December 9th to do it. Don't wait until December 31st to do it. Just do it now, and apply all of the skills that you have learned to it. In a year or so you'll thank me.

But what if the videos ARENT for kids?

Is this for kids? there's cursing, weapons, the character is smoking, gta references (a game for adults, which kids play but anyway). But its minecraft and it happens in a school, its colorful... Ok then, does it belong in the kids section? You see what I mean? now try having to do this with a bunch of videos, statistically you will f**k it up at least once.......

And I don't know what "for 18 year olds mean", that doesn't include the yellow demonetization icon from hell left and right, plus its so boring, I like the fun and derpy animations, I had fun doing content like that, now some idiot boomer ruined it all for us and kids, no one benefits except corporations as usual.

Theyre going to make exception for games. That is partially what today’s update from youtube about mixed audience is about.

I have been following this since the begining and what still confuses me after reading, listening and watching anything with the letters FTC attached is how it will actually protect kids. I liken this to a grocery store where one aisle has all labels removed from the products and not other marketing. Now picture kids walking through the store, they head up that aisle picking up a few items but soon freely move to the next aisle where soft p**n mags and knives are for sale. Here there is marketing and shiny labels and the ability for them to use an app to register their interest...AS it turns out this store is absolutely huge and the item/topics limitless and unrestricted - they are free to roam. I liken this to placing a crossing person on one road outside a school but leaving the other 3 unmanned. Mostly pointless.

As a father myself I get that kids need a voice and to be represented however there is nothing about this that as a parent makes me feel any safer, actually the direct opposite is true. Sadly less good quality, well produced kids material will now become the norm. While i'm sure the FTC will sleep well at night knowing that kids have not been served a 'damaging' ad for a new car or Heath insurance I am yet to find a real parent who ever thought this was an issue.

Jeremy isn't going to save us guys... at the end of the day, the public's opinion is going to amount to what the privacy advocate guy could say in 10 seconds (Jeremy is whining about his ad revenue and wants your kids to be in danger) versus what didn't air because Jeremy can't really describe the full situation in less than 10 minutes (maybe purposefully... you know... for the ad revenue). Odds are stacked against us. One thing I am tired of is small time creators saying that their channel is going to be shut down (now there's a juicy thumbnail) even though they have no intentions of doing so.

This story really highlights how weak the creator's argument is in the eyes of the people. The advocate needed just a couple of seconds to diminish everything that Jeremy said by declaring his whole business model to be illegal. Although the advocate was mostly wrong in that bold statement, I think all of us can admit that over the years this system just seemed a little too good to be true. Which is why I never even thought for a second of quitting my actual career. For me, I am fully prepared to continue making kids content without any ability to make a profit because it is something that we actually enjoy doing as a family. My main concern is Youtube not allowing remaining kid creators to receive views. Is Youtube really prepared to allow kids to continue to watch legal content with no personalized ads? I don't think they are and for me that is the biggest question come January. If Youtube doesn't steer all kid viewers to inappropriate content to avoid ad revenue loss then I will be perfectly content. If Youtube does the opposite then I am fully prepared to strongly advocate for the government to initiate a show cause and hold Youtube in contempt for violating the permanent injunction. I will further advocate for the DOJ or SEC to initiate a criminal investigation into Youtube leadership. Of course I believe all of this should be done in a fair and impartial manner devoid of any conflicts of interest. I remain optimistic that those at Youtube will revise the algorithm to stop their attempt at secretly violating the permanent injunction. Youtube needs to understand that kid creators don't stay in silos; remember Youtube doesn't do background checks and they have no idea the positions that some kid creators hold that may put them in a unique situation to have a complete picture of what is going on.

I will be watching Disney animations channel closely. They have 4 mil subs. It is official Disney channel where they post different cartoons. We’ll see how YouTube will play a fair game and rules apply to ALL creators no matter the size.

ftc site has crashed. losers cannot even take care of their site and they wanna enforce online laws

ROFL, you know this never affects the actual big guns. Every time they say 'it will affect ALL creators/Youtubers' it basically translates to 'it will affect mostly small creators".

So what do you think will happen? Biggest channels will remain ads and all the privileges and youtube and most importantly FTC won't give a damn? Sounds unlikely. Big Channels like Super simple songs or Little Baby Bum are 100% created towards kids, so that would be noticed by everyone that they weren't affected.
