good job!
Looks like people are starting to realize things JUST as all of the trend hopper videos arrive aiming for the FTC. Going to be hard to edit that out! Don't get me wrong, the FTC is still out there in outer space, but:COPPA is ok with targeted ads
he is right
Looks like people are starting to realize things JUST as all of the trend hopper videos arrive aiming for the FTC. Going to be hard to edit that out! Don't get me wrong, the FTC is still out there in outer space, but:
"It shall be unlawful for any operator of a Web site or online service directed to children, or any operator that has actual knowledge that it is collecting or maintaining personal information from a child, to collect personal information from a child in a manner that violates the regulations prescribed..."
YouTube broke a preexisting law, YouTube communicated its awareness to toy manufacturers, Susan (surrounded by some of the brightest minds in advertising on the planet) told us we weren't going to make money anymore, YouTube was radio silent for months while your bank accounts dwindled (both before and after the settlement), YouTube released the video of the employee (who is probably in hiding now) with the marbles in her mouth explaining with great authority that you need to self-identify and that all of your features would be disabled, YouTube has the knowledge to leverage new advertising methodologies and has given no indication that they plan to do so, YouTube is destroying the niche. We're going to get dumped into the YT Kids app trashcan while Logan Paul does PPV events and lines up his next corpse.
Lawsuits take a long time. If you are producing content with zero return right now, and are in financial danger, you need to re-prioritize. And no, the answer is not to switch platforms (for our niche). It is either Twitch/Amazon or YouTube/Google. It isn't about the ability for a site to host videos guys. It's about the advertising capabilities of the platform. YouTube retains a stronghold of content outside of this niche and has created a digital advertising monopoly. The VAST majority of you will not make enough money from these other "solutions". My advice if you are relying on YouTube to pay the bills is to find the safest darn niche that you can, and start rebuilding your home. I love you guys man! This is horrible to see!
I sure hope that that happens. The odds are against us. The public isn't as learned in the matter as those in this forum and seemingly it might just look like said AG's are working against child privacy - even though we know it will create a better environment and fewer kids will be emotionally damaged from misdirected advertising, etc.
Very good points. Youtube kids will essentially be adult videos and kid videos made by foreign actors that care not one bit about the rule of law and the United States of America. It will be a continuous whack-a-mole.
For those that don't want to read the whole article. The Commissioner points out that there are still 49 state Attorney Generals out there that can seek injunctive relief against Google pursuant to COPPA that is independent of the current settlement. The work and investigation has already been done, all you need is to write the complaint, file it, and serve Youtube LLC. I want to see an Attorney General of a state sue Youtube and obtain a settlement to create a system that ensures that American kid creators are not at a disadvantage.
Not sure how that works, where does the "chip in" money go?half a mill already https://www.change.org/p/youtubers-...m_medium=copylink&utm_campaign=share_petition
