Good Content versus Good looks

So you changed your mind by the end of your post! :) My point isn't that you HAVE to be attractive to have success. I'm just saying that it gives those blessed with good looks a leg up before they even start.

Checked out your channel, you guys aren't even that bad looking. If anything, it's the quality of your videos. Quick glance, I noticed the lighting can use a lot of work, better mic input (try using a boom if you can), and BG music. Just changing these few things can help so much. You guys have decent content overall.

On the topic at hand, I would say looks help, but it's not a deal breaker. As others said, content is king. I never even showed my face.

Thanks for checking them out. I never said I was ugly. My brother is downright gorgeous in my opinion. :p

I have a lot of DIY setup for the lighting and had some issues with the mic, but I'll continue working to improve those things. I've got no budget, so I don't have a quality camera yet either. I have confidence in the concept. We need work but we'll get there someday.

You guys ever heard of Good Mythical Morning? Your content is very similar to theirs. In fact, if you guys can emulate their quality, I would actually prefer you guys over them.

I certainly have watched them. They did a breath holding test that I watched when researching ours. I really appreciate you saying that. Once I get some better gear and skills I'm going after them! Thanks so much for saying that.

Who says the other guy isn't putting in hard work? Cry me a river. These topics should be flushed down the toilet. It's not them, it's you. You know the reason and you got to deal with it. Don't post threads whining about something you can't change. You know the solution to never have to be p****d off at someone else success? Never have to blame another for your own shortcomings? Take a hike off YouTube. Leave it to the "professionals". And take this topic with you.

I respect the fact you've been at it for 10 years. I just went beyond 3 years. But I have not once complained like a child because of the lack of subscribers or views (at 3,400 subs and 619,000 lifetime views, so no success story there in terms of numbers). If it really bothers you to a point that you have to gather support form like-minded individuals you're best to find another hobby. Because it will never end. You will always be the old wannabe looser trying to make it big. I am past the YouTube prime age myself at 35, have a unibrow and am balding. Yes, also an old wannabe looser! Yet I don't give a flying *beep* what other people think. I do my thing, if it's liked cool, if it isn't? So what? I just won't make that type video anymore if it bothers me.

Whoa! Take it easy. This is a forum where we chat about YouTube. Was I crying and saying that attractive YouTubers don't work hard? That everything is given to them? I did not. I talked about bad video content that does well because of attractive YouTubers. I am commenting on the fact that there are advantages in life and some have them and some do not. I love the community here where we can discuss our success and failure and look for support. This my friend is not support. This is the type of response that should be flushed down the toilet. If this grinds you, then take a hike off this forum.

Merf, I think it's all up to what the audience is looking for. If their just looking for hotties and hunks, well.... their going to watch them, regardless if the content is the equivalent to dirty water trash. That being said, maybe they don't know any better or actually prefer sub pare content produced by boobie streamers and damn Daniel-esque creators. If their looking for good content in the genre they like, looks aren't going to matter.... I guess it depends the mood they're in ;) bahahaha....
