Calling all YouTubers under 1000k Subs

YouTube started promoting my channel last month and its working!

What did i? I just created some vídeos that attracted a lot of people and with a great engagement rate...

Yes YouTube promote small channels, you just have to make interesting content

I think a lot of us forget just how vast YouTube really is. So many thousands of videos are being uploaded every day that, even if YouTube wanted to promote smaller channels, what is the criteria? Do you want to promote a channel that is very excited about making videos this week, but gives up next week? A channel that has a cute video right now, but then might start posting problematic material tomorrow? Channels that present material that may be copywritten to others? It's a tricky proposition.

So yes, there is a bias towards larger channels in the Trending section, but I think, outside of the business reasons for that (more views means more money, and known quantities means more guaranteed views), there's also the fact that it's just impossible to promote small channels without making decisions that would take an enormous amount of effort to maintain. So there's the related content videos that pop up next to all videos, and those, while not totally democratic, do tend to feature small channels pretty regularly.

Overall, I think that YouTube is one of the more democratic platforms out there. You have as much chance of being "discovered" as anyone else, and if you are patient, you tend to get somewhat of a following if you're consistent and make a lot of stuff.

The struggle is like that for so many YouTubers. Not sure if this true or not but 90% of all YouTubers have a 100 subscribers or less so I'm sure many of us agree with you. But in the mean time just enjoy your channel and see it as a cool hobby that you can watch your videos with friends and be proud with what you've created.

You can code this pretty easily actually. It's not that hard to do, and you would be able to set a large number of criteria so rubbish videos don't get promoted. But hey, Youtube is a business, and no one really cares about small Youtubers. You could say the same about any entertainment industry, it's always hard starting out, and life isn't fair, so let's just get used to it.

yeah you have to put this in perspective. there are tons of large youtubers and MILLIONS of small content creators even if they did have a discover section it will be extremely crowded and would take an excellent organization system something google have the time or money interest to invest in. its simple at the end of the day they will invest in who makes youtube the most money.

while the idea of a discovery type tab is nice. there are multiple millions of small youtube channels. so the chance of you being on that tab would be similar to you getting on the trending. i do agree though they do need to do more to help promote the smaller youtubers. because at the end of the day. they could be the next big thing and youtube could earn lots of that Youtube monies

Well first of all mate.... You've only been on YouTube for 6 weeks!! You can't expect thousands of views and subscribers in that short space of time lol just be patient. Yes it is possible to get 1k plus... But it ain't gonna happen overnight.
I know it's hard trying to get your channel out there but it takes time. its all about consistency, engaging with your audience as well as other you tubers and promoting yourself in a way that isn't spamming.
YouTube used to have an option called 'video response' where you would post a link to one of your vids in a comment section of another youtubers vid (at least I think that's the way it worked) which would've been easy for a smaller channel to promote themselves, but it wasn't doing that great so they took it down.
Just remember that those with the thousands to the millions of subscribers all started with zero and took them years to get to that. And there's even videos up with tips and tricks on how to achieve a successful channel.

The easiest way to deal with this problem is make really good videos and stop caring about subs. I know how much it sucks to make a great video that no one seems to want to click on, but honestly it takes time and lots of it. When I started my channel and heck even now, I knew that I would have to claw my way past 100 subs or so before people start really noticing. And as weird as this sounds this struggle is part of the youtube journey. It's sort of the first round of the ultimate test to see who will drop out. If you can make it past whatever your next personal big milestone is then you've succeeded and can move onto round two. It's all about consistency.
I think it would be cool if youtube had a feature for finding channels with less recognition tbh, but I doubt they'll want to turn the attention off of the money makers unless they have good reason. So I guess in the end, just go out there and make good videos; have fun! Hopefully all our hard work will pay off someday, until then good luck creating.

Let's see the letter!! Maybe it's would be more effective as a viral video? Hmm

What would also be nice is in the trending section if instead of "not interested " you can choose "never show me video from this person again. Ever" that way you don't have to see the same ones over and over again that you don't like. I wish for that.

Well think about it, although that would get TONS of channels growing faster, there are thousands, hundreds of thousands, of "small" channels
