Depends I sometimes use Avid, but I generally prefer the Adobe CC suite. It has a lot of great tools, and has a bit of everything I need!

A program I like to use is Camtasia Studio 8 by TechSmith. With it you can get a 30-day trial. Then after that of course there is a payment required, but if you're a student you can get a sizable discount. I like this program because of its simplicity, editing is smooth, has multiple tracks (layers) and has quick rendering speeds. There is a lot more you can do with it, but it is a fairly light software meaning it's nowhere as complex as some others. (Sony Vegas Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro... etc.) I recommend it to those who aren't too familiar with editing software as it is a solid first program to use, and is easy to pick up.

I use Lightworks! I was using movie maker before but the quality of my videos were bad so I had to find a new editing software!
