Why would yttalk die?

In my opinion, it all about of the amount of the encouraged creators. New Monetization threshold will reduce this amount (percentage) because in order to start a YouTube channel, it will need to be a serious project owner. This possibility is not available to ordinary people but only to full-time people working as a free film producers, while the majority of current content creators are not full-time producers. Take for example, some youtubers works as auto mechanic and publishing videos about auto just as a tool to market their main business, promote their experience and gain money from Youtube Ads as well. Moreover, most vloggers are not full-time producers.

This small amount of producers indeed will reflected on % of YTalkers.

Also I don‘t think that small creator as such will die, because you pracrically don‘t earn anything from Adsense if you are a small Youtuber anyway. Above all, those few dollars you make at the beginning should not be the motivation to start creating videos in my view.

If you are good at something the money will come sooner or later.

I believe, the majority of Small creators will not waste their times into building surrounding community and start editing efficient contents without getting any cents in return. Personally speaking, i believe 3$ per month is better than zero, in comparison to the effort and time consumed to reach the new monetization threshold. At least 3$ per month ( 36 per year ) can help small creator to buy a video editor app that be more efficient.

A good move, anyone can get views and subs by spamming and asking for subs. But actual watch minutes (240k of them) takes work. Being honest even this level of action on your videos will earn a very small amount, so i don’t see how it negatively affects anyone really. Unless you just monetized and now will be removed from the partnership - that would suck a bit from a milestone point of view. Its just making me want to work even harder on my videos and post every week to build my fan base. Challenge accepted!

I agree that the new policy will lead to a more professional approach towards Youtube. I disagree, that ordinary people can't produce good videos, if they don't do it as a full time job. You don't have to work on your videos all the time to create good content.

Again I believe that compared to what they earn with their job as auto mechanics, Adsense is simply a joke. Although I agree that it can be an additional motivation.

Building an audience and community is never a waste of time. The community is what keeps your channel running, unless you want to produce one viral video and get rich from it. One of the most satisfactory things in Youtube is interacting with the community, with the very people who watch your videos and wait for them.

Finally you are right, that some people will be discouraged. But so will spammers and other people that don't abide to the rules. If you really like Youtube, you will continue creating, 36$ should not decide to go on with your hobby or not. Although they were an additonal motivation.[DOUBLEPOST=1517853566,1517853353][/DOUBLEPOST]

The funny thing with my channel is I have the watch hours, but not the subs. I think this might be due to the fact that I never asked for them, because until those changes I didn't think they are important - they were just a number for me.
But I think that I will make my way through to the 1000 subs. We all will, if we really want to!

Have you ever been waiting OVER 2 FRICKEN MONTHS for YT to review your channel. I did and I'm still waiting.
Do you no think that the change has been in the pipeline for sometime and that's why they weren't reviewing channels?
I'm pretty sure the MCN's new about the upcoming change a fair while ago. Seemed a tad strange that my second channel was all of a sudden released from an MCN after about a year of trying to disconnect. It was released before the new changes were made public.

When I started my channel (along with millions of others) there was no monetization.

You didn’t need to be a professional then and you certainly don’t need to be one now.

All this change will do is discourage those who were hoping to make a quick buck off of YouTube. Those dedicated to sharing their work, building their channel, and enjoying the community will continue.

$36/ year...that, if they’re lucky, *might* see in 3 years.

I think this is a good idea, though I am going to be affected by this with my channel de-monetized :(

It does give a good aim to reach for, and means that I am going to have to put in more consistent work to my channel. Though I know monetization dollars are generally insignificant anywho, I'm more focused on having my YouTbe videos help people!

I believe you are an optimist. :)
