Get traffic on your videos from Reddit

I've dealt with the starcraft subreddit enough to know I am not touching it with anything I care about with a 50 foot pole, though your guide almost convinces me!

Most redditors will flame you if you're perceived as a spammer. They don't seem to mind the occasional submission by a creator, but anything on a regular basis and they freak out. At least that's been my experience. Then again, is it so bad if a redditor flames you?

I usually find posting a link to your own video gets you downvoted immediately on reddit, and a spate of angry idiots with nothing better to do disliking your videos and leaving hateful comments.

Posting a link to someone elses video... that's a different story. I guess having a small circle of Youtuber/Redditor friends to spread each others' videos would do a lot to help.

New to reddit, easy to use. Interest = gaming so I clicked on gaming at the top and searched goat simulator and click the subredit on the site.[DOUBLEPOST=1397773272,1397773254][/DOUBLEPOST]side*

I don't think they will flame you for posting own video.
However, if you post an irrelevant video for a subreddit, hell breaks loose.
I made some good videos, eg for RoadCam subreddit, and got good hits.

That said, if your video gets 40-50 upvotes, its like 2000-3000 views in first week and it tapers down.
I never had a video go beyond 1000(front page worthy).

that would be like 500,000 views I guess.

This is great advice. I know that my partner is on reddit all the time, so I should ask him to post some of our videos on there. But there are a lot of people here who do not know exactly how reddit works. I think you should give us some good advice about the site.

If you go there to advertise, I'd be rather cautious and even a bit stealthy about it.

Luckily, the subreddit I hang around most is r/Planetside, and they don't seem to mind posting your own videos too much as long as it's interesting and relevant to the game. Other subreddits might not be so lenient. However, I will say that Reddit is an awesome way to get traffic. :p

Reddit is so confusing, I am still trying to learn how to find my way around it. I am sure that it's worth the trouble but it's damn hard to make it over there. At least it seems so, idk what to think... The moment you share a video, it gets downvoted, trolled etc. Tnx for the info anyway but I guess I will have to do my homework before trying to do anything with Reddit whatsoever.
