I don't have a schedule for the current stage of my channel. I'm still learning about the creation process and my content. Once that is a bit more set I reckon I'll look into an upload schedule.

Yes I post every Monday and Friday at 5pm GMT. The best way to plan a schedule is to first look at your work/life commitments and plan around that. So if you have a girlfriend/boyfriend make sure you have time for them, if you have a full time job like me make sure you fit your schedule around that too. My schedule works, my partner knows exactly when I'm filming and not to be disturbed and also I know when to edit and upload. Twice a week is about all I can manage at the moment but I am toying with the idea of a 45 minute plus video once a month of bloopers and behind the scenes type stuff.

The important thing is to not burn yourself our, be comfortable with your schedule and also make it known to those around you that it will affect, that it's a business just like any other, and that it needs effort and management to get right. If you just treat it as a hobby you might find people could become difficult and not understand properly and you'll end up with things like...

'Why do you always go on that youtube, and not see me'

'It's not like you make any money so just go to the bar with me instead'

Treat it like a business and plan properly, and people around you will soon respond accordingly.

I think you strike some very good points here. Labeling youtube as a business rather than a hobby makes a very big difference.

If you are capable to create more than one video per week, I would definitely opt for a schedule and save the others (since sometimes work/school can leave you less time for Youtube). Also, having a schedule but uploading some extra videos out of the schedule can make your audience more commited and happy
