I think people should be clear: if you are using images that you have not taken, that you have not explicitly gotten permission on, and that you have not confirmed are either public domain or some form of creative commons license, then you *are* infringing copyright.

Since there is no Content ID for pictures, any copyright match would have to be manual, so really, the question is whether the copyright owner is taking the time to check youtube, etc., As mentioned before, large organizations like Getty will do that. But average photographers, etc.,? Probably not.

But you're still infringing copyright.
