The rude comments

I have already encountered two people just being straight up rude to me when they dont even have any videos themselves.
That always seems to be the case, doesn't it? Those who criticize the loudest have never tried to create something themselves.

That's why they troll, they know they can't match up and they aren't brave enough to put themselves out there, so they try to tear creators down.

But, take heart, you aren't being criticized by anyone whose opinion matters. Actually, the opinion that matters most from day to day is your own! If you like what you're doing, then others will follow and you'll find an audience.

As for the trolls, as long as they keep watching (and they often loyally watch everything you do), don't sweat them! They're a great source of views and engagement.

Getting bad comments happens quite often to me. Common situation:

Random person: You suck!
Me: Ok

...and then I continue working on my next video :)

Luckily for me I havent really had any negative comments on my channel yet (I know its ultimately inevitable) but I recently saw a video from a member of this board and he had an interesting take on it...youtube apparently count comments into there Algorithm mix when deciding what content to promote and what content to file under "Bin" but they cant tell the difference between positive and negative comments...they just count the amount as a whole...so realistically engaging a troll or someone who is slamming your channel can actually cause your videos to blow up in terms of popularity...now im not condoning starting an argument with your abuser in the comments...but theres certainly no harm in trying to keep them there commenting by politely questioning them for a bit...

It's a big part of being on YouTube.

People forget it is a social media. Like every, you get trolls and rude people. You got to have thick skin because once you build a following of any sort, that one rude comment you got on that one video you made 5 years ago becomes unimportant.
