Suggestions on good video editing software for a laptop?

Hi guys!

I'm a recently new vlogger and was wondering what are some good video editing software for a guy like me who owns a laptop and doesn't have access to software like iMovie which I've noticed most people on Youtube use.

I was first using Sony Vegas but my laptop couldn't handle it so I switched to Movie Maker for the moment and that's what I'm using right now.

So any suggestion is welcome and looking forward to get some help from y'all!

To give you a useful suggestion you would need to tell us what you are missing with movie maker. A software is only good if it offers what you need.
 
Gosh your laptop couldn't handle Sony Vegas?

What are your specs? That will help narrow down a simpler program
 
@XXLRay I would like to for example be able to display a picture on the screen while I'm still talking, I know you can do this on Movie Maker but it feels weird the way you do it on it. Another thing is, to be able to reverse play a clip.

Video card- Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
CPU- Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 3217U CPU@ 1.8GHz
RAM- 4 GB
OS- Windows 8.1 64bit
 
Well first of all I'd say get a new computer.... :p

To run on that computer I might suggest videopad video editor. That is a GREAT program for free that is very unknown. If you think your computer can handle something more meaty than that, then try out one of the earlier versions of hitfilm express. You won't be able to run hitfilm 4 express at a decent rate with a computer like that, especially if you can't already run sony vegas.
 
Any decent editor is going to slow down your system, so I'd figure out if you can get a more appropriate computer for your editing.

I'm a big fan of the Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere, but that will definitely bog down your system. It takes a lot of memory to use.
 
Looks like I will have to invest on a new computer in the near future lol! Thanks for your advices.
Keep them coming, might need to write down your suggestions for when I get a new computer! ;D
 
Hey Djams! If I was in your situation I would probably invest into a new computer! I was in the same boat as you. And it's definitely worth it in the end. Good luck !!!
