Stories about something messing up a recording?

I've had a few but my most recent was a few weeks ago when I was recording a video for a game, normally the mic gain via Windows is set to like 40, and it NEVER changes, until that day, for some reason it did and it was up to around 90+, so needless to say I didn't find out until after I had recorded, then went into Audacity and noticed tremendous amounts of clipping, which unfortunately can't be fixed. I was worried that I'd have to literally restart an entire section of the game as I'd forgotten certain decisions I had made but luckily in the end, after all the panic, I found out there was a roll back option to different scenes, still, I lost some good footage which I wasn't happy about, re-recording something after you lost the previous just doesn't feel the same.

Without fail it will be my wife being cute or asking something from another room. "HONEY?! I want a hug!"

Annoying, but I can't say I hate it either haha

good thing you could roll back. But man that is a bad one. Skype likes to play with my settings whenever possible, would that maybe be the reason?

well, mine is after hours of recording, just to find out my recorded video file is corrupted and there is no way to fix it...and sometimes my facecam video files will be corrupted as well....and that is BullS**t

Nah, I've had Skype installed for ages and it never caused problems like that + I have met headset plugged in all the time so Skype is defaulted to that. I think it might have to do with another headset I plug in when I need to use wireless. Either way, I need to check Audacity from now on to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I was recording for 20 minutes already when my neighbour came up with a great idea to use a drill. I made a video anyway, just apologising viewers for background noise.

in my old channel I forgot to plug in my mic, so I recorded about 3 hours of footage and didn't have audio for any of it :(
and I've accidentally not pressed record a few times in my career, so basically noob mistakes haha.

The walls in my apartment are paper thin and love to yell when they do literally anything. I've gotten to the point where I just can't record anything while they are there because they always ruin my recordings.
